NATO: What NO "Cyprus"!!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

NATO: What NO "Cyprus"!!

Postby MrH » Sat Nov 20, 2010 1:41 am

Exactly. The Greek Cypriot administered Republic of Cyprus can NEVER enter the Ranks of NATO unless TURKEY says so. I guess reality bites, ay!! There are certain realities the Greek Cypriots are seriously BLINDED by, and come February 2011, Come Greek South Cyprus's wish to join NATO and Come Greek South Cyprus hoping that Turkey will one day open its ports for a Promise to join the EU are all but sad dreams for the Greek Cypriot Hijacked Republic of Cyprus.

The future is TWO Republic States, the future is bright - Do you all not agree?

Have you only just discovered this? Turkey has been at the centre of NATO for many years. They object to Cyprus 'sitting in' on EU-NATO meetings because it is not a member of the partnership for peace program. The Cyprus 'deadlock' is a sticking point in EU-NATO co-operation.

Where did you discover a wish of RoC to join NATO? I don't know of her ever trying to do that and being blocked by Turkey. At least under the current administration, RoC doesn't even want to join PfP.

And really, why should it? What's in this global mafia organization that makes it so bad if you don't belong to it?

Anyway, in case there is in the future a change of policy, and RoC decides she wants to become a NATO-member, I hope Turkey will be there to block it. That will be, for once, something for which Cyprus could be grateful to Turkey.

Joining NATO with a couple of Zodiac boats and carrying a whole meze of potential heavyweight problems, noone will accept CYP in NATO :) NATO uses Cyprus via RAF bases, as long as they exist here, we have nothing to offer. If RAF suddenly evaporates (please please 80bln budget cuts) then we might have something to offer as a gateway point o Middle East... but for now SBA gets all the credit :)

ER not quite. irrespective of how why what or when basewise Cyprus is not considered a "safe" Country by NATO and they dont share delicate security information with us, partly one suspects something to do with the way we have a commie president who wishes for the "good old days" that makes even Putin squirm.
And of course he has also said that Cyprus will never join NATO as long as he is El presidente. thats his policy.
And who would you offer Cyprus services to?
What exactly is the SBA getting all the credit for that you think should be going to Cyprus?
No SBA bases? then there is no stumbling block to Turkeys possible territorial ambitions as she has stated in the past?

What excuse is Turkey going to use this time? Or are you now admitting that Turkey and UK created the Cyprus Problem (using the TC minority as their pawns) and divided Cyprus to serve their own interests and keep parts of our island under their control?

the stumbling block to turkey's territorial ambitions was supposed to be britain's treaty obligations as guarantor of cyprus's territorial integrity - fat lot of good that did us in 1974. so do me a favour and shut tf up!
