Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I'd ignore the dissertation length backpedalling and faffing about how the misquote was not just (another) of their misquotes and stick with this - short and sweet and sums it all up perfectly:

List of misquotations
This page consists of things that many people think are correct quotations but are actually incorrect. This does not include quotations that were actually blunders by the people that said them.

"Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Notes: This misquote hearkens back to the British Lord Acton, a 19th century English historian who was commenting about tyrant monarchs (Caesar, Henry VIII, Napoleon, various Russian Tsars, etc.). Lord Acton actually wrote: "Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

Can't you give her half a point for getting the semi colon in the right place and leave it at that?

It's not the worst O misquote on the forum. Some have been total inventions in a heading and the words used not found ANYWHERE in the actual quoted text!

Another famous misquote (perfect for this occasion!)

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much"

* Correct quote: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

It Googled "tomato" and was astonished to discover it classed as a fruit.

So, the googlefarter put it in a fruit salad ....

Sometimes, such "power", from the touch of a 'button', cannot but "corrupt" the most basic procedure .... absolutely!

If you didn't understand that it was "power" and "corruption" which were the subjects for discussion, but instead believed we were waiting for you to prove your ability to Google variations of the 'quote', then carry on 'discussing' "bullshit" with the other googlefarter because I'm not wasting time teaching you how to derive meaning from language and context.

I have just started a post with full quote in it.
I therefore now have some problem understanding your stated reason for compression, so who was traying to bullshit who!

The googlefarting troll has been caught out again.

Her "semi colon" is twisted like a pretzel, as is her 'ability' to read the things she googlefarts.

It was not Acton who used the semicolon; "Oracle" used a semicolon in a nifty thread title!

My prerogative! 8)
