Melina Mercouri (RIP) loved oil wrestling in Topkapi. Whats your problem? :?

Deniz, I think it was Peter Ustinov who enjoyed the Turkish Oil wrestling more.

Ray ... they complain on CF that Greeks wrestled, oiled, 2,500 years ago as though that was weird. Anachronistic Copycats!

But, looking at those photos, from nowadays, ... seriously, they are definitely suppressing/disguising some primitive elements! :D

They would be shot/stoned/imprisoned otherwise ...

Definitely beats men bumming each other for the sake of "enlightenment"

I hear that sport has lost its fans in the Hellen world, so how about that Oracle?

You would know shahmaran! :D

Seems the Turks copy, and continue to this day, most of those old traditions of EARLY civilisation ...

More proof your cultural-behaviour is locked in some time-warp. Much more "enlightened" to allow homosexuals to practice freely and without fear of imprisonment than to continue displacements/substitutes of this kind.

Once you do that, the rest will follow ...

Anyway, it was only sparked by a bit of information mentioned in a TV programme (I shouldn't have broken my golden rule of avoiding TV) ... So, no more postings necessary; unless, like Deniz, you feel a great urge to keep Youtubing these men :D
