Excellent programme and ver well moderated. I was grateful for the time allocated to the lady caller from the USA, she at least managed to enlighten the audience that the Turkish intervention was necessary and justified.

The murders the lady mentioned were in December 1963, 11 years before the Greek Coup and Turkeys 'intervention'. Wow. Was that the reason Turkey intervened? to avenge the murdered Turkish family?

No you defeatisit pos, she more or less gave the messsage that this was inevitable and Turkey were perhaps 11 yaers late.

I am no defeatist, but its your choice of words. So be it.

I honestly expected you to come up with some more plausible reason for the Turkish intervention.

I lived those days of 1963/64. I saw the killings by the GC militia first hand and need no lectures. I also saw at first hand the ethnic cleansing of the Armenians - our ngood neighbours first hand. I suppose you are aware of this too - perhaps not. I dont know what you know, but what you are told.

I think I liked Lord Hannay when he was younger and playing the role of YODA.

Has anyone seen a politician as bitter as this idiot was on this interview. To say that the AP was not a partition plan strips any credibility he may have had. He was more interested about Turkey's prospects of not becoming a EU member than anything else. The fact that this idiot Hannay would lie about the AP just to get Turkey to become a EU member, only reinforces the fact that the AP was a Partition Plan. He should have been more vigil with what the AP was at the time as to which side it was going to benefit the most and not ask NOW for it to change it a little bit here and there. With such a mismatch of results where the GCs said "NO" by 76% and the TCs+settlers said "YES" by 65%, only confirms that the AP needs more than just a little adjustment. What it needs is a complete overhaul, and that's what has been happening in the last 2 years. If Cypriots can wait 36 years for a settlement that will serve all Cypriots well, then Turkey can bloody wait a little bit longer to become a EU member. The ball is in their court.!

So what exactly did Hannay say that was so profound.? Let me guess, that the AP was not a Partition Plan, is that it.? Do yo think the moderator does not know the answer to his own question and that he did NOT pick that particular question out of thin air. Of course he did not. Nobody supports the AP of 2004, except for Turkey and the "trnc". I wonder why. Even Hannay thinks it should be changed. No kidding, but it's too late, because the whole AP was corrupted and nothing can fix it. It was a masterful disguised partition plan with many hidden agendas. The best way to deal with the AP, and the way it was dealt with, was to cut it's head off, which it was.

Other people with more smarts, and even less smarts can see that the AP was a partition plan. Hannay is just an angry old man because he got found out and that he failed to screw the Cypriots, TCs and GCs alike just to get Turkey off the hook and to make it easy for her to become an EU member. Sorry, Hannay, but there's no free lunch. Turkey will need to pay to get into the club, right after she solves the Cyprus problem.

The Divisions of Cyprus

"When votes were counted, the results said everything: 65 per cent of Turkish Cypriots accepted it, 76 per cent of Greek Cypriots rejected it. What political scientist, without needing to know anything about the plan, could for an instant doubt whom it favoured?"

I whatched until the gorilla Anan came on then I just knew the whole thing was bent. Say no more. Hannay is pissed because the Ankara Plan he concocted didn't work and has nothing in favour to say for the GC. Its just punishment time.

Did they at least respect the fact that 76% if the GC rejected it and that their democratic right should be respected??? NO!

So what we have is a mish mash of bollocks yet again by the turks to try and gain support.
