Pe mas O, have you had ANY bad dealing with a Cypriot? I honestly doubt that you would admit to it even if you had!
Strange that there is always a bad 'Brit' around you- considering the diversity of population these days!

No, I have not had any "bad dealings" with Cypriots, nor any other persons for that matter, which are worth making a song-and-dance about. Most people treat me very well (as I do them). The odd disagreement is soon rectified to everyone's satisfaction. It's called being reasonable. :D

Never had a problem with a lawyer in Cyprus. I never had any dealing with developers but with architects, contractors, engineers etc and again no major problem ... not any more than other people abroad have judging from programs like Grand Designs. I bought and I sold properties which had their title deeds and they were 100% problem free. The people that have such problems are a small minority. They are just very loud because they go around all the time saying they have a problem. I don't blame them. I would also do the same if I was screwed. For example last week in the forum somebody posted that he found cardboard in a tuna salad he bought from lidl. Probably 1000s more people bought tuna salad from Lidl, everything was fine with it, and none of them would came online to post "I bought a tuna salad from lidl and there was no problem with it"!

Aren't there 100,000 Cypriots without title deeds?

Maybe. But only a small fraction of those actually have a problem. The rest are either just because the title deeds are not issued yet (it takes some years) or because the people that own the property don't do anything to get a title deed because they don't want to pay more taxes! Some years ago I divided some land I had into plots. The title deeds for the individual plots took about 5 years to be issued but they were eventually issued. Now I am building a house in one of the plots. I was advised not to get a title deed for the house because then I will have to pay taxes on the value of the house instead of the value of the plot. It is on the interest of the state for everybody to have a title deed as soon as possible because they can charge higher taxes that way.

So you think that €6,000,000,000 of toxic debt is only a problem in a fraction of cases?

If everyone of the 130,000 houses that don't have title deeds shared equally in that debt then each property has a €46,000 debt hanging over it and preventing it getting deeds.

If, as you say, this problem is only experienced by a small fraction then they must have some hell of a debt on them.

As usual the threads get taken over by the usual attention speakers who jump on the ''bash a Cypriot '' bandwagon its unfortunate but true.[/quote]

You should add to that the members of the Bash a Brit brigade:

Each should be considered as unacceptable as the other,

Which explains the reason for why the 'True Cypriots' (born prior to 1960) are so noble in their countenances, they were all 'Stately Stigmatized'.
