I had hoped that THIS particular subject would attract some intelligent response, I confess that my expectations have suffered some abatement.

However, since it would appear that you are not prepared to view the subject of 'Respect', perhaps you might consider the importance of 'Self Respect' which can usually be discerned by oneself (and others) immediately an ignorant comment is made to counter a polite one.

Or even in response to what one may consider to be ignorance from another.

I have just received a rather interesting pm from a member who has rather viciously attacked my views on 'Respect'.

My first thoughts were that such written effrontery should be ignored, since the author of the pm is generally quite incapable of exhibiting 'Respect' in most of the responses to any of the posts (the aforementioned member) either submits or responds to, particularly if the views of the proposer or other member's opinion is not in tandem.

My next thoughts were rather more considered and it occurred to me that the question of 'Respect' is something deserving of a little 'In Depth' debating.

I truly believe (having witnessed many exchanges on this forum) that the MEANING of the word is quite misunderstood and I believe it is worthy of some examination.

Respect is as valid to the savage in the deepest jungle as it is to the 'Lord of the Manor' or anywhere else on the face of the earth where a person has 'Respect' for their own society.

If one fails to show 'Respect' for another society, whether that society is acceptable or not, then the failure is with the one who lacks the quality (or knowledge/willingness) to demonstrate it.

Respect has MANY forms but FEW interpretations, I do wonder if other members might be interested to compare their OWN views on 'Respect' with those that are easily researched in any dictionary.

No offensive language please, this is a serious matter.

Would you consider cutting and pasting the text of the PM into a post, anonymizing it in the process, so we can see the threat in context, or would this not show respct for the PM poster?

I consider that such filthy language as was used in the pm, might cause embarrassment to any Lady or young person that might catch sight of it.

I am sure that the author of the pm would accuse me of a breach of confidentiality and I would not wish to expose myself to such a reproach......"Sorry".
