Nokia removes Cyprus Maps because of Turkey!

Postby johbee » Tue Nov 16, 2010 3:12 pm

It seems that Nokia have taken it upon themselves to remove Cyprus from the face of the earth because of "legal athorities in Turkey" Here's a copy of the reply from Nokia when asked about the situation:

We would like to inform you that due to legal authorities from Tyrkey, all data and marks according the mpas, had to be removed. There will be no navigation for Cyprus any more,as far as it concerns Nokia part.Apparently you have to refer to your opoerator or to a Tyrkish part authority.
If you have any other problems with your phone, please contact us again.

Thank you for contacting Nokia Care Support.

I think it only fair that Cyprus remove Nokia. If you've got a Nokia phone, bin it and never buy another of their products again.

Navigational aids for Cyprus?

I've been all over it with just maps. Even if you get lost, won't be long before you hit a coastline!

Something else Turkey is responsible for then eh?

I ain't binning my Nokia - haven't had it long!
