Nokia removes Cyprus Maps because of Turkey!

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Postby Gasman » Tue Nov 16, 2010 5:09 pm

I mean - you have to laugh really - Nokia the world's largest mobile phone maker - forecast to sell more than 5million phones this year - they are hardly going to go out of business if everyone in Cyprus who has a Nokia ditched it in protest.

And I very much doubt that all Cypriots who do own one will.

Could be a marketing opening here for other manufrs - ditch your anti Cyprus Nokia and we will give you one of ours FREE!

This is being discussed in many places on the net!

Someone calling himself Adonodis had this to say:

We demand that NOKIA add Cyprus map on OVI maps today!!!! According to the local press, Turkey set pressure on NOKIA to take away the Cyprus map, shame on you!!!

And someone called DrKeo ain't too happy either!

I've been all over it with just maps. Even if you get lost, won't be long before you hit a coastline!

Something else Turkey is responsible for then eh?

I ain't binning my Nokia - haven't had it long!

I am surprised at the GC reaction to this news. I would blame young BillC for this. I am sure its part of his campaign.

I thought GC's would cheer Nokia........ :?

I ant binning my Nokia either.

Another foreign policy blunder by Turkey (one more for the list).

This should put Turkey's EU aspirations back by about 10 - 20 years, not to mention the damage it will do to the TCs.

Well let's see how many Cypriot businesses stop selling Nokia products as a protest against this.

They could even put a notice in their windows to say why.

Has the Facebook campaign about it started yet?
