If I was negotiating with the GCs...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Did GC gunmen coerce you?

Did TC gunmen coerce you?

By your own volition?

Turkish Cypriots on this forum seem so shy you’d be forgiven for suspecting they’ve got something to hide!

I told you when I first joined the forum. On the 21st December 1963, when fighting broke out I was in Nicosia studying at the Lyce. My grandparents were in the village and were warned off by our GC neighbours that they better move to a place of safety as there might be an attack by outsiders. They first moved to Kophinou then on to Ayios Theodoros the village where my grandfather was born and had a sister. Then onto Nicosia where they went to the UK. The next time I saw my village was the year when we met you.
Within a year my grandparents were both dead of heart break.

Lovenobody: If I was negotiating...I would stop negotiating if people did not agree with me. The Republic of Turkey's Army is going to be here forever and ever and the embargo for the ongoing illegal ethnic cleansing of every last non turk can remain inplace forever. allahu akbar!

Is that what this guy is saying?with respect I think there is a reason YOU are not negotiating champ.Keep up the good work.

How disappointing! :?

TC readers were hoping more like…

“They smashed through our front door and dragged us out by the hair all the way to the village square, where they brutally proceeded to… "

The house and the outbuildings with our farming equipment was subsequently looted. I hope that makes you happy.

I cant believe Deniz can say this. Fighting did not break out, the TCs were attacked and killed indiscriminately. Why is Deniz having a problem with facts?

Deniz please answer this, were the TCs aware of the brewing troubles on the mentioned date? How come your GC neighbours warned you? How come they knew and your family didn't?

Which ever way you look at it fighting took place. Here I was not apportioning blame. I note the date the 21st Dec as that is the day the the troubles - which began at Tahtakale and the GCs .......I answered GRs question. If you want details read my earliest posts.

It was early on in 1964, February that our neighbours warned my grandparents. I was stuck in Nicosia, incommunicado from the village.

In 67 there were nightly attacks by gcs on my dads village, but the tcs had arranged nightly guards as well to protect the village, it is in this year that my grand father moved the family to limasol (I think) and then subsequently to the uk. My dad left a year later. 6 of my dads cousin were taken on their way to work and their bodies have still not been found. Sorry if the informAtion is not exact my dad actually hates talking about what happened even to me and even to this day.

I think there was only one fatality in the attacks on my dads village and a few injuries but I can not be sure.
