How did Turkish Cypriots eliminate 5,000 GCs in 1974?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The 1960 constitution did not succeed in providing the framework for a lasting compromise between Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Rather, its bicommunal features impeded administration and gave rise to continuing dissension, which culminated finally in armed violence between members of the two communities. Beginning in late 1963, Turkish Cypriots withdrew from the government, and by 1965 the Greek Cypriots were in full charge.

Turkish Cypriots were not concentrated in one area, but lived throughout the island, making their position precarious. Vice-President Küçük and Turkish Cypriot ministers and members of the House of Representatives ceased participating in the government.

Do you really believe that the rest of the world are convinced with this garbage? If TC Ministers were to participate they would have all been executed, this is fact and its only you Greeks that deny it.

They were not killed so not a fact. The danger was there though, with all the killing going on.

Sorry for the confusion. For it to be a fact, they had to be executed. They were NOT EXECUTED, so it cannot be a fact. Does that sound better? :?

Unfortunately, when the order came from Ankara your ministers obeyed and withdrew.

Even to this day (21st century!) your people take orders directly from Ankara and do EXACTLY what they are told… let alone in the 60s!

The aquiescence at the colonisation, the de facto Enosis of the north with Turkey, the racist constitution that "nationalised' GC property, the silence on the 1974 war crimes, the refusal to allow investigation of the missing, and the list goes on, shows what the plan had been from the start. These FACTS give the lie to the notion that partition was intended as an antidote to GC Enosis or that it was for the safety of the TCs.

People tend to show their true face when they have power. We have seen what that face is and it is not at all inviting or hopeful in an equal partnership.

I agree...People do show their real face when they have power...Like during 1963-74 period we saw the real and official GC state face...It was indeed not at all inviting or hopeful in an equal partnership... :(

Gregory wrote::? a little confused about this Bir fella

First he says this:

BirKibrisli wrote:The killing of innocent civilians is a crime against humanity,no matter who does it...It must be condemned without any qualification...

But how is this thread helping us get closer to a solution???
We all know terrible, dastarly acts were committed by both sides, and most of these murderers have gotten away with their crimes...What purpose does it serve now to bring out the losses of one side, and demand proper answers to stupid questions??? :?

And then in his very next post he says this:

BirKibrisli wrote:Wake up and get real, all of you...Until every last person's pain and suffering is acknowledged and apologised for (no matter their ethnic origin) there will not be peace in Cyprus...The last 37 years is proof of that...

Which is it?

The confusion is only in your head, dear Gregory...You are suffering from the official RoC "TCs do not count" syndrome...The operative words in the first quote above were "the losses of ONE SIDE"...I hope you are now clear about what I mean...
