Treasonous Greek officers had locked up most of the ammunition and supplies. Turkey of 70 million and the 2nd largest NATO army pretty much took losses, met with fierce resistance and found it difficult to tame this small islands army that was fighting itself at the time and had one hand tied behind its back with no or little supplies.
