I'll go along with the preposition but wish to add the following people to the "list of undesirables" for internment -

Ginger people
Scots
The guy who didnt put any jam in my donut
Chelsea fans
Taxi drivers
People who eat kippers\arbroath smokies or similar on airplanes
The cast of eastenders or any soap
Freckly people
The whole board of Mcdonalds
Tree huggers

Oh I could go on and on and on

Keep those for the UK. Cyprus has only one problem and it relates to Turks! Ginger or not!

I can tell you the exact time we attacked as i was a soldier .

I can put my hand on my heart and say it was a mission well satisfying and glorious to save and protect TCs against individuals like this character making these bold statements .

I can tell you for now they were not being so bold as this character is being on this Forum when we landed by parachutes and came by tanks and by land and i mean their soldiers who were armed and could have easily resisted but chose to run .

They literally dropped their riffles and ran or waved the white flag without any resistance .
That is one thing our culture would never do is run or fear anyone as when you fight for justice you have no fear but when you are causing injustice then what cause do you fight for none.

What i say to you oh great bold talking GC is stop talking out of your orafice and be carefull how you choose to talk of my people as you should have some respect for each other because you need to realise that we are a fearless nation and very proud of our origin and that makes us dangerous. you are not of that same origin as your origin has all ways in history lost to turks .you are a weak and guttless nation so humble yourself to your master.

Unfortunately, an outside observer didn’t find the Turkish military so brave…

Immediately after the Turkish invasion the United States Senate sent a team of investigators to Cyprus to write up a report on the consequences of the invasion which included a section titled “COSTS OF THE INVASION TO TURKEY”. An interesting portion of that section follows…

"Nearly 10% of Turkey's military force is now stationed on Cyprus, and there have been heavy logistical and support requirements. Civilian "technicians" and others have also gone to the island. Moreover, there were considerable losses during the invasion. According to responsible military sources in the field, the performance of Turkey's armed forces during the first phase of the invasion was very poor. Although Turkey apparently employed a basic plan its general staff had drafted and perfected over a period of several years, military observers say there was poor operational planning, inadequate communications, and a near total failure of joint operations among Turkish air, sea, and ground forces.

As a result, through tactical errors Turkey lost an estimated 15 aircraft during the invasion. It sank one of its own destroyers. Casualties were considered light, but included some 300 men killed and another 500 wounded. Had there been any substantial Greek Cypriot forces and tanks in the northern part of the island, casualties undoubtedly would have been considerably higher. One military observer suggested, for example, that because the Turkish airborne assault came at too high an altitude, a better organized and equipped Greek Cypriot army could have easily eliminated an entire Turkish airborne regiment swinging helplessly in the air.”

It couldn’t have been easier for Turkey in July 1974, as Cyprus at the time was THE cakewalk of cakewalks and yet her military performance can only be described as a major military disaster!
