The more I visit Cyprus the more my belief of its Paradise status increases. Back yesterday after spending one of the longest stays , 14 glorious days, even had hailstorms a few days back, such powerfully loud thundering and lightning reminiscent of my young days in Cyprus many many years ago.
Preparing now for my permanent return and long awaited semi retirement, after all in a few weeks I shall reach the young age of 70.
Talking to a group of early morning policemen having their morning beverages in an all night café in Limassol, I was asked why I consider Cyprus' life far more attractive than that of London. The answer is simple I said, bearing in mind of course that I don't have the worries of bringing up kids, their education, finding a job and facing a daily struggle to survive, the weather I said, the blue blue skies, the sea , the people, such as you lot- had met the same bunch before- the friendliness and the Cypriot language, Greek it obviously is, but with its own unique and so expressive manner. The beauty of the sunrise, the sunsets that can be so magnificent.
I do of course base my love of Cyprus in the fact that I was born there, spent my first 15 years growing up, have gorgeous Cypriot grandchildren that give me an enormous amount of pleasure. I do spoil them rotten of course, isn't what a pappou is supposed to do after all ?
I was impressed by the number of pets around, well looked after and well groomed, alas my daughter's dog had gone gone missing since late March, Daisy her name a friendly gorgeous pointer that had recently undergone an operation being left with a large scar on her tammy . My daughter and grandchildren are so distraught, they are doing everything to find her, I helped by searching areas that some callers in response to my daughters " campaign" on face book, even the Cyprus Mail that printed a photo of Daisy.
We all think that she may have been taken by a hunter, she has such a strong looking body and looks so healthy.
Daisy has been in the family since a puppy, much loved and cared for, a happy dog and a very friendly one that would not hurt a fly.
We tried numerous kennels, appealed to the local municipalities, put posters in numerous locations, sadly to no avail.
Enough of that now, I must now concentrate on my impending permanent move to Paradise Island.
