Reactions and condemnations of the attack on TC's at the “rainbow festival in Larnaka continue to come in. The latest reaction came from President Derviş Eroğlu who strongly condemned the attack in which 2 TC's as well as other foreigners were injured.
The President said that the incidents once again demonstrated the ugly face of racism on the Greek Cypriot Side.
Commenting on the issue, President Derviş Eroğlu said that the TC's were deeply saddened by the incident and called on the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias to take effective measures on the issue.
In a statement released yesterday, the President said that such attacks were a shame of humanity.
“We strongly condemn these attacks” said President Eroğlu in his statement.
He also pointed out that he had asked the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias at their last meeting to take urgent measures on the issue and to bring to justice those responsible.
Explaining that similar attacks were frequently being made against Turkish Cypriots crossing over to South Cyprus, the President complained that Greek Cypriot authorities failed to take any measures to prevent this from happening.
