Why doesn't Eroglu propose this at the table?

When The current state of affairs break down the GC will be blamed once again as it was them that refused time frames and Annan type referees, this will strengthen the TC case, all we need is the for international community to once again see the GC intransigence.

Somehow, I don't think so!

But carry on with this pipe dream! The world knows exactly who the recalcitrants are.

Says who? If it was fine to ethnically cleanse 185,000 indigenous Cypriots with a 10,000 year old inheritance on Cyprus why would they be shy of screwing Turks at the slightest opportunity?

So why on earth would the RoC shoot herself in the foot?

Because Turkey says so?

I guess it will be a combination of pressure from outside (Europeans, Americans etc) and something in exchange (small territorial adjustments, compensations, withdrawing of turkish army and end of guarantee treaties etc).

RoC will have nothing to lose (as by that time any talk of the North coming under its control will sound as a bad joke), but some small things to gain. As the motivations for re-unification will be almost non-existent, it won't be so difficult for the RoC to sell such a solution to its population.

Pressure an EU member to violate international law and cede her territory to a Muslim outsider?

You’re hallucinating!

That's where we are heading on the 18th if the issue is still locked then its a clear indication that this problem will never be solved even if left up to the "Cypriots" as the UN cannot play this game indefinitely.

I hear you say "once again" so what did it cost the RoC the first time?

Exactly what it would "cost them" the second!

Write this on your forehead...

UN RESOLUTION 353 (1974)

...because it'll come back to haunt you again and again until not a single Turk is to be found on the island.

Why do you think they wouldn't do that? Especially if this outsider is a privileged partner (this is something on which more or less everybody agrees in the EU).

Of course, in my scenario, the EU member officially wouldn't cede territory to any outsider, it would just accept some sort of independence for a part of its territory. This is how it would be presented.

And what about the UNSC?

How did you manage in your fantasies, to get ALL permanent members to agree on violating international and EU laws unanimously against Cyprus?

Did Erdogan offer his wife, daughters, and a midget as a sex incentive?

On which ground would the UNSC block this, if the RoC itself accepts it?

If your question is, why would its members exert pressure to RoC prior to the acceptance, the answer is because of economic and geopolitical interests in a final solution of the Cyprus problem (that's a very big discussion). International laws are details. So much pressure won't be necessary anyway, they'll just push a little the RoC to make a decision that she will tend to make on her own.

As for Erdogan, he will probably be dead in the time for which we are speaking about.
