Was in Utah last week and ( maybe it was just the county) there was no smoking in any building or within 25ft of the door !!
Right that does it! ..... am writing to my GB MP.
Right! Then we are unanimous! Turkey out of Cyprus, smoking returns, and Y-Fronts is a poof!
Methinks it’s time for a political party…
Sign me up mate.
Here's the email just sent to my MP here in London (for CF amusement if nothing else)...
Dear MP X
Belated congrats on your re-election.
Re Smoking In Public
I have seen an article which surveys the situation on smoking indoors in various EU nations.
As you will know we have a blanket ban here in GB with zero tolerance, no exceptions, bequeathed by the Nanny-State Conformist Behaviour Controllers of the previous government.
Other states such as Belgium, Austria, Germany, Holland, Portugal etc have taken a more enlightened and rightly liberal approach and in these places there are allowances, with areas set aside for smoking.
You will further be aware of the huge decline in trade in our pubs in recent years with many closing. Here in our own High Street pubs that were once the meeting places of our community, social places that contributed so much to social cohesion, places where there was often standing room only, are empty.
There was a time when Wise Assemblies of Englishmen (and women) were able to meet in English Pubs, and discuss in Plain English Pub Talk the pressing matters of the day over a pipe or cigarette and a Warm Pint.
May I take the liberty of asking whether you would agree that this sort of Englishman should be able to enjoy a Fag and A Pint with his peers in a set-aside area?
Yours sincerely
