And by the way, it's a barbaric practice to kill endangered species

Songbirds add such a beautiful sound to the countryside, but they are all pretty much silent now. Between the hunters banging away with their shotguns and the poachers with their horrible glue sticks, they'll be driven away.

The bird types that are being hunted in Cyprus are actually bred in captivity by the relevant government authority and then released a few days before the hunting season begins.

That’s why their numbers never decline.

Another weird fact - Swallows are almost sacred and nobody ever touches them, but ambelopoulia are massacred annually.

Superstition often goes hand in hand with ignorance.

As kids we were told that killing swallows would make our hair fall out completely. I am very proud of my ample hair on me top.

Pity there was no such warning for ambelo-poullia

This message is disingenuous if not mendacious. Yes the Game department does bred certain types of game bird, pheasant and the like, for legal hunting, with guns, not the small song birds that are illegally caught in mist nets and on lime sticks.

Government breeding tiny song birds?

Well if that's the case, why don't they just sell them to the restaurants direct?

I'm with the Gaseous one here , but the government should not stop at restaurants. School tuck shops, vending machines, McDonalds,KFC, the 7 star Scrotum Hotel, Hooters and Lidl should all have access to this product.

If you managed to eat their stomachs, you proved yourself to be a real man. Bloody hell, they tasted very bitter. You are supposed to spit the stomach out. Poor things. I regret having ever gone hunting with my older GC friends with lime sticks. I was only 8 -13 years old.

I hope the RSPB does not read this. They will discontinue my membership out-right.
