Has your Internet speed (loading of pages) taken a nosedive lately?

It may be because of a new Google attack (advertising) on customers called “Google AdSense” so to kill it add these two lines to the end of your hosts file at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (in XP) using notepad…

127.0.0.1 pagead.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

If you don’t know what the hosts file is forget about it and suffer!

Depending on what Windows version you are running, the location of the hosts file may vary slightly, but will be in the same general direction.

so does windows 95 and windows 3.11 and earlier versions of windows.... windows 7 is better then vista and xpee

Ok, I had little time earlier to investigate this in depth and was in a hurry to go out but now I can tell you what it is in more detail…

It’s a menacing tool by Google that some websites subscribe to so as to make money that embeds advertising links in a page which of course results in deteriorating speed and sometimes erratic behavior such as browser windows crushing, browser windows opening by themselves, etc.

It’s disgusting and the best way to fight it for the time being is to block off their server by adding those two lines in your hosts file.

This is OS and Browser independent so EVERYONE is affected!

The hosts file is at the same location for XP and for Windows 7 that I gave above.

Simply open Notepad and add the two lines I gave above.

Those figures are irrelevant because they are calculated by sending and receiving simple data packets, but the problem I'm talking about only occurs when actual websites using this tool are loading.
