Turkish businessmen: “We’re in the wrong side!”

A Greek Cypriot friend who is a frequent traveler to Istanbul on business, is often told by Turkish businessmen that Turkey “saved” the wrong community!

“If only we knew what they were like (Turkish Cypriots) things would’ve been different! If only there was some religious or ethnic connection with the GCs we could make amends!”

Disgruntled over the constant Turkish financial handouts to the “TRNC” and with no end in sight, more and more Turkish businessmen are voicing their gripe.

Greek Cypriots traveling to Istanbul taking advantage of an emerging Turkish economy are seen as a ray of prosperous light by their Turkish counterparts, while Turkish Cypriots are looked down upon as “leeches” with nothing to offer!
