How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Turkey is for the poor and uneducated Brits who want to say they've gone abroad. The intellectuals and discerning travellers shun it. Will only travel specifically for some Ancient/Religious site. And then they come back depressed by the irony of the world's greatest destroyers of civilisation supposedly acting as custodians.

At present, there is one Professor, acquaintance, who is making a conscientious objection by withdrawing from a Conference due to be held there, to which he was invited.

A second one, I know, is also thinking of withdrawing. Let's hope it snowballs. :D

If he runs out of 'dead dogs' to prove his point, he can come to Cyprus where he will find an abundant supply:

http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/new-poisons-being-used-kill-dogs/20101103

THE START of the hunting season has already taken its toll on hundreds of dogs as hunters involved in ‘turf wars’ turn to new poisons to kill the animals.

In addition to daily poisonings, hunters are now reportedly resorting to mass poisonings of dogs in so called “turf wars”.

“There are huge rivalries between some hunters, who want to show off how many kills they have. Also some do not want others to hunt on what they perceive as their turf, so they go ahead and poison their rival’s dogs,” said president of the Hunting Association, Anthony Kakoullis.

In their attempts to undermine others, hunters are poisoning prey and even artificial water fountains.
...
“Not only are tens of dogs poisoned on a daily basis but we also see owners abandoning their hunting dogs. They take the dogs out hunting with them but these dogs have not been trained in any way, they hear the first gun shot and the poor things just run away,” Poyiadji said.

She said that in Paphos tens of dogs have been abandoned and farmers are already threatening to poison them as they are worried about their crop. “It’s a viscous[sic] circle,” she said.

More shame on Cyprus. Tho' I expect someone will be along shortly to say more dogs are poisoned every day in the UK.

Of course. Only a racist Gasfart thinks nasty individuals are all Cypriots!

Just over a month ago ...

Woodland alert after dog deaths

Warning signs have been put up in Nottinghamshire woodland after at least three dogs died and five others were taken ill.
Tests are being carried out on the animals, which had been on Forestry Commission land near Sherwood Forest.
Vets believe poisoning is the most likely cause but said the source could be natural.
Owners have been advised to keep dogs on a lead in Haywood Oaks, Blidworth Woods, Sherwood Pines and Thieves Wood.
Natural England, which is carrying out the tests, said investigations were ongoing but searches of the area had not revealed any obvious cause.
'Severely ill'
A number of other animals were taken ill but have since recovered and the Forestry Commission said they had received reports that more animals had died.
Cheri Fearn, from Sutton in Ashfield, said her Patterdale terrier Bracken died "howling in pain" and her puppy Misty was seriously ill.
She said: "They were being sick, they had diarrhoea, they were going off their back legs and basically were not right.
"We took them to the vets who admitted them straight away and gave them antibiotics and sedatives to calm them down and take away the pain as their bodies swelled in pain."
Vet Jon Ruben said: "They were very severely ill, partially collapsed, semi-comatosed and breathing with great difficulty.
"It is probably a poison but we have no idea what,
particularly as the dogs were not seen to eat anything and nothing obvious was vomited up."

In order to withdraw, you have first to accept. Do you mean they are declining to accept?

Doubt the East had much tourism in the first place, and I also doubt that the Russians are going to give a toss about what Jeremy Tosser thinks of the East

I wonder if Clarkson has ever been to Cyprus and had to not only endure bad smells in toilets but be faced with shit covered toilet paper because the drains won't take it.

At least in Turkey they have a much more civilised way of disposing with it.
