I had heard that improvements were coming when I was over in June, but what a wonderful surprise when in Cyprus in October.
I spent 3 nights in Paphos with a friend and had the experience of watching the drivers being on strike one morning at Karavella Station. We waited and eventually were told the strike was finishing at we would be able to travel to Polis at 2.0p.m. At €1 each way it was still worth going just for the ride. We then checked the new intercity routes and prices and found that in comparison to €10 for Travelexpress Limassol to Paphos, we could use the bus for €3 each way of €5 return. The bus went on time but instead of having many stops just goes from Karavela to two stops in Limassol.
The same price applies for Larnaca/Limassol and I believe it is €7 for Nicosia.
In Limassol the local buses were excellent with €1 any bus or €2 for a day or €10 for a week. It took getting use to having connect with the free minibus between the split bus stations but it did work well.
Congratulations to all concerned it makes getting around Cyprus very easy.
