IMPOSSIBLE for a Republic of Cyprus!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

IMPOSSIBLE for a Republic of Cyprus!

Postby MrH » Wed Nov 03, 2010 3:48 pm

TOPIC: IMPOSSIBLE for a Republic of Cyprus!

Argument:
The Turkish Cypriots, and it looks like the United Nations and the European Union, have made it obvious that a Solution under the banner of the "Republic of Cyprus" is not Possible, but a changed one as perhaps the "United Republic of Cyprus" similarly to the Swiss-Model Annan Plan is more realistic. On this strength, and to assist its success we believe that the following should also be noted, which is where we believe the Greek Cypriots (with their 76% No Vote to the Former Annan Plan of 2004) is seriously struggling to Comprehend.

1) How can the Greek Cypriot (GC) administered ROC, completely run by a GC lead Government, have a Strong (76%) Right wing following? Where would that leave the Turkish Cypriots (TCs) if it were united the way the GCs would like it?

2) The solving of the Property issue is to complex and, after so many years of "both" sides seeing their properties exploited and destroyed, is now impractical to even try to meet half way, leading to the suggestion that a Two State, clean break, is the only option under perhaps a Loose Federation?

3) Turkey's Guarantor rights is a must for the TCs, while for the GCs it's of the highest Taboo, rejected outright as they currently live as the GC-ROC without many of its original articles from the 1960 Constitution; They've all been changed to suit the GCs. Then, I say, how can the Current "Greek Cypriot" changed "ROC" be any platform for a future agreement? Hence, why the UN Supported the "Annan Plan" agreement and NOT any expansion of the current "Changed and altered" ROC as they know what is practical and what's Not?

4) Finally, there's NO COMMON Language. The Majority of the TCs and GCs cannot Speak "English", regardless, the GCs have also made it perfectly clear that "ENGLISH" will never be the Common "OFFICIAL" language of the Island, thus throwing any common basis out of the Window. Based on the same issue, if we look at other areas with "Different" FOUNDING PEOPLEs, like Belgium, Switzerland and even Mauritius, they all have an "OFFICIAL COMMON LANGUAGE" spoken by all of the Citizens, but not in Cyprus. This is just one of the many, many areas were there is no possible convergence, and where it proves that living under a Swiss Style Confederation is justified beyond any reasonable doubt regardless of the Communist, false Utopian society the Greek Cypriots Claim.

The EU has already accepted Greek as the one and only Official language of the RoC. :D

This was discussed some time ago, but it could leave TCs holding the balance of power in the RoC. You could see a TC party with enough votes forming a colalition with a GC party and directly influening policy.

Very similar to the Liberal Democrats in the UK at the last general election.

Given that the label "Republic of Cyprus" is LOCKED IN till the end of times, there's really no point in reading any further into your time wasting fantasy.

THANK YOU ORACLE - SAY NO MORE. For those of you who are NOT of Greek Ethnic heritage - Please take note of the Fascist Greek mindset on the island.

The EU has already accepted Greek as the one and only Official language of the RoC.

EFFECTIVE CONTROL Stops on the recognised "CEASE-FIRE" line Get Real, this has been a recognised FACT by the EU and UN until a COMPREHENSIVE RESOLUTION TO THE CYPRUS PROBLEM. You should know that mate. And, That's not what this Topic is about, stop swaying to another subject if you chose to comment. I've posted this for the many individuals, particularly the ones I know, who
Observe the CF ONLY

Of you are going to say something, don't say the obvious and typical as those people reading this Topic will only use it against you - Adding on to the Current 5-Committee members who agreed with the Turkish Cypriots in the DTR affair! Stop being a cliche mate, it's getting embarrassing and making this Forum to boring. Please comment on the Topic area.

Cheers.

Take it up with the EU! :D

It's not the only Liberated country to have ONE and only ONE Official language which represents the historical significance of the natives! :D

BTW ... If you have not noticed. We are Communist/Socialists -- begging for full Democracy -- rather the opposite of your squealing accusations :D

OK, but is that statement correct?

Do current EU/RoC Passports have Turkish included?

That would be under the discretion of the RoC. The EU is happy with just Greek! :D Of course, everyone is free to practice any language they choose. But only Greek is Official.
