My old associate 'Jimmy Light' is preparing to visit Cyprus very shortly, he is 'A man of the road' (as he is wont to describe himself) and is a little concerned about accommodating himself.
He views the prospect of paying for shelter somewhat disdainfully since he is used to 'Roughing it' (although he is currently quite nicely ensconsed in a Yank's house in Kensington, unknown to the Yank of course) and has come up with the novel idea of building himself a small house using cardboard boxes.
I do believe his intention is to keep a close eye on any events taking place in the Cypriot courts, particularly in connection with the case of Cornelius Desmond O'Dwyer (with whom he has struck up quite a close friendship since the 'Campsite Campaign in London') and has learned that his old 'Tentmate' is thinking of a similar cardboard construction.
Jimmy, for all his faults, is basically a very law-abiding person, he realizes that Conor (as he is generally now known) may be allowed some laxity when he builds his cardboard house BUT, since he is lesser known in Cyprus than Conor is, reasons that the authorities may be less afraid of him than they are of the campaigning forces of Conor.
The REAL issue is, will Jimmy require 'Planning Permission' if he erects his house on public land OR, will the authorities allow him to erect his house in close proximity to Conor's structure providing Conor raises no objections?.
The alternative might be for Jimmy to share Conor's house BUT, Jimmy is a rather private individual and would much prefer to be a little less conspicuous when the 'Press' get wind of the arrangements.
Jimmy also likes to maintain his standards from the fruits of his own begging bowl, there apparently were one or two tricky incidents when Conor realized that Jimmy was making more money charging Japanese and American tourists for HIS story (£5. 00 Japanese, £10. 00 Yanks and £1. 00 regular patrons) than Conor was from his.
Jimmy charged the Yanks more because he didn't like what they were up to in Iraq at the time.
Such are the wiles of 'Jimmy Light'.
