I engaged a tailor to make me two 'Made to measure' suits and he quoted me One Thousand and Six Hundred Eoros for the two.
I furnished him with a deposit of Five Hundred Euros to cover the costs of his initial outlay and duly signed an agreement with him.
However, a fortnight later, I decided that I did not wish to purchase the suits and sought to cancel the order (prior to my first fitting) fully expecting that I would probably forfeit some (or all) of my deposit.
Unfortunately, I am informed that due to my cancellation, it will cost me MORE money to cancel than it will to complete and I wonder if ANY business person can shed light on the circumstances where such a situation is justified.
The tailor informs me that a possible way to recoup some money (or lessen the impact of my loss) IF I complete, is to SELL one of my used suits.
I must confess that I am completely bemused by the terms of such a contract and do wonder if there is a plausible explanation.
