How on Earth can you defame some one who is using a nick-name, someone who's real identity isn't known?

Are we not all characters of our own inventions?

Are figments of our imaginations gonna be dragged before the Courts?

Where a poster / the Forum has the problem is where one
uses it to attack known/identifiable people as is happening to Conor O'Dwyer.

The supposed anonimity of the poster may not help: the Forum has our email adressses and service of legal action by email can be valid.

That is his choice: the point I was trying to make was that here one had stepped away from insulting a pseudo individual known only by a nickname, to an identified individual.

I expect in some circumstances this could even extend to any libels that used only the forum name of the victim, if the real person behind the name could be reasonably identified: no doubt many Forum members know each others real names., etc.

It could even be a visitor who may make the link and then repeats what was said in the Forum, in the world at Large, using the Forum member's real name.

Where is the anonymity then?

For example a forum member called Kafenes (and his wife) have both been pictured in CF and can therefore be clearly identified by people who may know them, and recognise them, and linked to something discussed in the Forum.

I therefore suspect there is some scope at somepoint for a libel action.

STUD, I absolutely agree with your submission that Conor should sue some of the members AND, for as much as he can get !!.

He will surely be in need of a few bob when the Businesspeople of Cyprus scorch his arse in the legal actions HE will soon have to face.
