Recycling

Postby DANGAMAN » Sun Oct 31, 2010 7:52 am

First I took this issue seriously and thought that I could contribute to this good cause. Now I see that this whole concept is a joke.

1st I receive the free plastic bags and an information package about green dot in Cyprus, stating that you may buy a plastic dustbin to place your paper waste.

I visit there web site to learn more and then went out and brought a brown dustbin 36 Euro, yes thats 36 Euro to place my paper waste.

Wednesday comes and the people from Green dot do not collect it. The following week I greet them as they are passing from the neighbor hood. I inform them that I got a dustbin marked as paper waste for collection and the driver replies that it must be placed in bags which you buy from the supermarket.

Are these people stupid? I brought the dustbin to cut down on plastic waste as stated by green dot!!!

I then go out and buy the brown plastic bags marked as paper waste. What happens...

Its collected as trash by the normal dust-men!!!

Joke or what?

We are giving free, our trash so some person(s) that are making money from recycling it, also paying the annual trash-fee and having to buy the bags too!!!

I have expressed my views to green dot and if that is the case F**K that for recycling.

I am well pissed off with them.

Hope you've got a tin hat to put on ready for any replies! I got blasted for mentioning this farce of 'recycling' in Larnaca.

I've now got some superb shots of these new BLUE cardboard based waste only bins, full and overflowing with all sorts of stuff. And surrounded by it too.

When I mentioned that they should educate the population about it first I was quickly told the population had been 'well educated' in plenty of time.

yeah right. That's obvious from a quick look round at the shiny new enormous bins dotted everywhere.

Oh, and the worst misused ones are those that stand at the back of the rows of Cypriot Tavernas.
