Hospices in the New Famagusta areas.

How many more Churches are needed to be built on this Island?
The Greek Orthodox Church always say's it cares for it's flock. It is a business which brings in millions of Euros a year from profits and goodwill.
Millionaires drive around with their elbows sticking out of their flashy cars.

The point I am making with this statment,is the fact that I have to drive my Mother inlaw to Nicosia every second day, because there is no Hospice in the new areas. The Hospice in Nicosia is a wonderful place, but short of beds and accomodation.
People who are dying of Cancer, shouldn't be burdened by a long drive in heavy traffic for treatment.
Care Nureses check regularly at home, and the visits a torture for me.
There is plenty of vacant land in the free areas, some owned by the Church, can they not offer this to it's people.
Millionaires could all chip in with a gift (which is often tax deductable), towards the building of a Hospice.
Young and elderly Cancer victims need a location close to home. There could be more jobs for created, for care nurses in this area.
The Government will not answer my emails about this for over 4 years now!
What of the influencial 'Lions club',who help at times, can they do anything?
I love my Mother inlaw and hate the system, why do such important things get ignored. The Radio Marathon gets so much gifts.
What is to become of the poor souls in the future, who only have months and often weeks to live. All the relatives have difficulty to travel so far, once the Cancer patient is admitted in Nicosia.
Time is running out for my Dear Mother inlaw, what about you and your Families? What can to do?

As one who has experienced at close range the suffering of a loved one , I lost my wife last November the 13th to cancer , I fully appreciate the traumatic experience you must be going through in taking care of your mother in law .
I also experienced , many years ago , the greed and hypocrisy of the Greek Orthodox Church , an organization dedicated to generating as much profit , tax free , who could do so much for the Cypriot people , instead it continues to brainwash young and old .
As a child and an orphan I spent time at the then Limassol Orphanage , thanks to the kindness and humanity of English people us little children experienced and enjoyed little treats given to us by humanitarian people , the Church gave us sweet f/a , just as it does today . Indeed the Church could do much to alleviate much of the every day suffering that someone with this dreadful decease endures day in and day out , non stop !
I follow tradition and I follow religious traditions , weddings , Christenings , burials and memorials , out of respect for the culture of my forefathers. On the 6th of November I fly to Cyprus so as to be present at the first annual memorial of my wife , out of a sense of loyalty to her memory and to say thanks for having put up with me for 46 years.
and NOT out of some religious motive.
The Church must change its attitude and act as it preaches !
Please convey my very best wishes to your mother in law and I commend you for acting in such a loving manner towards your mother in law.
ps. I understand that the Limassol Hospice is now up and running , funds raised by various charitable events but let it be known that a well known and long established family , that of Lanitis , contributed vastly to this worthwhile cause.
