My children are of both however i am begining to realise that perhaps i should influence the Turkish Culture and mind onto them as i have fooled myself into believing that in general greeks are of good nature but it seems that in this forum there seems to be a majority of ignorant substandard CPs with nothing but hatred.

I shall have a lovely turkish life and i shall bring my children up of Turkish culture because they will grow up to learn to respect and have pride unlike the CPS that i have come across this Forum. My wife and her Family must be in a minority as they are proud and respectfull people with intelligence and open minded but if my children are to be exposed to Such substandard generation of people then i rather them be only exposed to Turks .

Do not jump to conclusion just because you have come accross a few GC's of the 'seemingly' extreme variety. Make up your mind from real people you meet. The forum is not the best place for this, however you should still make contributions as it would be valuable. Underneath their stern facades underly their Cypriotness which is the same whether they are Turkish speaking or Greek speaking. Our past history has caused a lot of pain and suffering for both communities. This causes some of us to post in various ways. Some of us have suffered in various ways - like losing friends or family members, some of us are politically motivated, yet we are still human. And as such some can live and forgive without forgetting and some cannot. Time is a good healer and we have high hopes of the younger generation. You and Martha are fine examples of this. Personally I am proud of you both. I know there are more like you and I hope theumber of intermarriages increases.

You being here is food for thought for many of us. Good luck mate and do not despair.

MARTHA, if you are a Cypriot, you are neither a "Greek" or a "Turk", although you may be Greek or Tukish. none of this matters, unless of course you hate Greeks because a "Greek" offends you, and you allow yourself to be identified with "Turks", as though they are not just as Intolerant.

...and if you expect support from Greeks or Turks on this forum, forget it. Nothing on the other hand prevents you from expressing your will as a Cypriot. I suggest you expect the worst from (some) people if what you say has any validity. welcome again, keep writing.

Am i the only one that is not blind . do you not see the remarks coming from the GCs about Turks . I have not seen any racist remarks from TCs and i am not being biased i have been just like you reading all the quotes on this forum . I have to remind you that i am married to a GC and when we have on occasion discussed matters i have an in depth knowledge that GCs from young age are brain washed to hate Turks and i am aware that at schools in the South they are also brain washed to do this . I can put my hand on my heart and say that there is no such agenda from Turks. This propaganda about Turks all its doing is isolating yourselves because in case your not aware as far as i am aware GCs G are like a broken record and the rest of the world are just moving on .
I really dont like being negative and i really do want peace and some sort of realistic solution to the Cyprus problem.
Look at every topic on this Forum and it will be negative remarks about Turkey .Its like the Greeks have really made themselves to look like they are angels .
You cant keep insulting Turks or not willing to change your mind set about Turks and expect TCs to then not be concerned about if we can really solve the problem.
You got to stop this stereotyping all turks . its not true and surely you must know this .
Surely some where in your mind and heart you have to just decide for yourselves and the first move to make is to confront your omens in your head and mix with Turks talk to them .

I agree with you i just got angry reading these remarks because i really have not been exposed to hatred by greeks like this .
I mix with all types of cultures and a lot with Greeks and there is no animosity or any ill feeling .
I am just shocked perhaps i have lived in an ideal world most would like to live in .
I feel very lucky that i am in the envirinment i am in and i think i rather not be exposed to this amount of hatred .
I can give you people some advice even the ones that have had the worse end of the stick that my parents and i wont go into detail their relatives were murdered ,Young girls , Elderly man hacked to death by Local Eoka .
There is only one reason i am telling you this is that look at me i have not now hated the whole Greek race i have married one, My parents did not encourage me to hate greeks after all they went through .
To hate the whole race is easier than to actually realise its isolated to who ever is doing the bad deed . What i want is that particular person who is probably still alive to be dealt with judged and sentenced .

Judging and sentencing is a different kettle of fish altogether. One must realise that there are 'murderers' also in our own community who were responsible for the deaths of innocent people. Some of these people are in 'high posts'. (should have been a gibbet). For that reason alone justice will not be found.Alas!!! There will always be a section of the communities who will protect these people.

our leaders did not accept two states other wise the trnc would today be recognised... how is it a united cyprus when its two states? how ever you put it its partition that is never going to happen..

also i remember turkey signing away all rights to cyprus how come they ignored that? we also signed more recent documents like 1960.. we can safely say all past agreements are out the window and we need to work on a new one...

one that is not two states in any form. and no our leaders have not accepted two states and are not talking for two states... maybe your leaders tell you that to make you feel better...

Don't worry,only those who wnat to be confused were confused about your gender...You explained very early in this thread that you were a man and you were married to a GC...

There are some poeple here who have no intention of having a sensible discussion about anything...Their minds are brainwashed, and all that comes out of their mouths are hatred,bitterness,and insults...You will do well to ignore them and keep on making a positive contribution to the forum...You are in a very good position to convince us that we are all human beings first,our race,nationality,or ethnicity should not define us...

And we should not use the past historical events to justify our racism and prejudices...Cypriots are a traumatised nation. Some more traumatised than others...You should make some allowances for the fact that the GC and TC collective consciousness are deeply wounded...some here are taking advantage of that to push their own political and propaganda angles,and to relieve their gulity consciences by attacking the "Other" community...You will in time sort these people out,and learn to treat them the same way they like to treat others...It is the only language they understand.Keep on reminding us that before everything else we are humans...Humans who deserve respect,empathy,and compassion...
