T/C Solutions to the Cyprus Problem

Postby boulio » Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:55 pm

Id like to hear what the t/c on this forum think of the ideal solution to the cyorus problem is and how will they get there.

1)if its partition what will they be willing to give up to achieve it?

2)if its is a bbf how would they model it?
a)size of states
b)refugees allowed to return in each area
c)intervention rights
etc etc etc

thanks
would really like to hear there feedback

Don't encourage them. They'll only get to think they actually have a say in a solution.

There cannot be a solution based on what TC's want because that would contravene every EU value based on equality among EU citizens and the freedom of movement within EU as an EU citizen. The Turks are proposing limiting the number of people moving back to their homes, holiday homes and access to those will be limited and policed by the Turks. Excluding people based on their race and ethnicity.

Therefore, BBF in accordance to what Turks are proposing will not work because they are excluding GC from their homes and properties based on their ethnicity.

The size of State should be in accordance to population if they go down the path of exclusion. They don't like this option because they are greedy and want more.

Intervention rights - hopefully in a United Cyprus people will not require this other than what the EU offers to the rest of its citizens. If they choose not to join the EU because of the discriminatory state in which they formulate their independent State as they wish will not be able to join in any case.

I think hermes both sides need to ask themselves what they want, but years ago there were t/c forumers that actually debated solutions.the ones that are here now never put forward any meaningful ideas.

They just need to check with Turkey before getting back to you.

You mean something besides the popular TC fantasy that goes something like…

“Turkey is the world’s greatest superpower about to take over the world, and once she gets hold of the EU the “TRNC” will shed her quotes and rule besides her as the second in command!”

…err, no they haven’t got any! :?

Lets take it one step at a time,

The Turkish Army departs in stages over an agreed period of time.
