How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Humanist how will it be better for TCs can you give us some details.

I was referring Birk's comments.

However, any change is better than the current situation. Settler issue is another benefit, you will have the recognition of TC rather than Turk, for some of you that is important.

No they should remain Turks! ''Ne mutlu Türküm diyene''

The reality is,dear RW,Christofias is the President of the ROC,offically recognised as the legal epresentative of all Cypriots,so he can say and do whatever he likes...Eroglu is the President of a selfdeclared TC Republic only recognised and supported by Turkey...He has no such liberty or luxury to speak his own mind...The longer the status quo is allowed to continue the more the TCs dependence on and subjugation to Turkey...and the more difficult Eroglu's position...It is very simple really...

Birk I hear what you say and I agree. However, that is one option the TC's have. The other option is to negotiate for a solution so that there can be an end to Turkish subjugation and then Turkey can join the EU and we can all become a big happy family ;)

For example one of the things Christofias commented on the property issue is that he wants the refugees to make the decision of what they want to do with their properties. Eroglu wants the current residents to have rights.

For me a compromise is for those who want to return they should have the right to their home. Those who are happy to be compensated should be compensated for the house a TC is occupying with the three metre garden around the home the rest of the property should be returned to them to do as they please. This way less TC's are getting displaced and I think its a compromise where both parties can benefit. Because of course the sooner we have unification the better the situation will be for the TC community.

I agree ,dear Andreas...The sooner we have unification the better the situation for the TC community. However, the TCs have one or two problems to overcome first...First is their total dependence on Turkey, and the length of that time...They have past the point where they can decide anything on their own...The other obstacle is the TC mistrust of the GCs...Nothing that has happened in the past 37 years has improved the understanding or the respect two sides have for each other...Most people who post here, and probably the majority of the GC population are in total denial of the dire straights the TCs went through to come to where they are today...Let alone admit any GC role in the current mess...This is a huge obstacle...The fear of GC domination and the return to the bad old days of 63-74 is v ery real for the average TC... Further more it is etched in the TC collective consciousness...They will not leave their "sheltered workshop" as long as their fears and trepidations remain unaddressed...And no one in the ROC is even thinking about addressing them...So we are inching closer to the status quo becoming the permanent solution... :(

Birk I agree in all that you have stated above.

I also want to say that there is no doubt most of the work has to be done by the TC's to overcome their current fate. For example only they can change their dependence of Turkey. Recently President Christofias made a reasonable offer I think that is the Famagusta offer. The TC's have shut down that door.

Protection is a real issue, only comment I can make on this is that they will in a united Cyprus be offered the same protection any EU citizen is given. Unfortunately they have to take a leap f faith if they want to become part of a Eropean society because the latest finding on trade will not change their current poverty and economic lag behind the RoC residents.

I think the Larnaca incident is a shameful act of cowardness and fascist ideology but that is only a portion of people, not the whole community. Lets not forget also that at this stage we see each other as enemies. This needs to change.

Lift the economic isolation ad allow us to improve our economy this will bring to an end our dependence on Turkey and bring us closer to the GCs but unfortunately you are to short sighted to see that your current action push us closer and closer to Turkey. Why don't you GCs for once take the initiative and offer to support the economy in the North if they promise to move away from Turkey and tell them to take a step back as we intend to build a unified Cyprus? we could start with asking for a reduction in the army and a halt to the sale of disputed land.

Why do we have to take a leap of faith when we can agree our security and safety of both communities?

Aren't these people part of your community? who indicate a danger than can erupt...does the army that wages war represent the whole nation? The average American does not support the troops in Iraq but people are still dieing.

Correction! You don't have an economy but you're on Turkish social benefits as you should! You see, the occupied territory of Cyprus is NOT meant to exist as a country with an economy so Turkey is doing the right thing keeping it like an enclave of needy people.

Allow us to return to OUR country and properties and the isolation will be lifted :)

Have you been north?, how many needy TCs did you see? Your idea of isolation us into submission does not work 50 years is proof enough, if you really want unification you have to allow us the freedom to tell Turkey to go.

If you’re not needy then why ask... "Lift the economic isolation..." ???

Btw, I'm not interested in "unification" as it is NOT appropriate in the case of Cyprus, and unlike some people on this forum (and elsewhere) I do not fall for Turkish monkey talk and insist on using the CORRECT terminology such as LIBERATION!

You may now return to looking good against Palio who is probably texting baloney with his Wizmaster 2000 while replying to your drivel!
