our first stop was Aspava restaurant(in Yedidalga) to have our morning coffees.... Some of them had Efes for a start.
This is where I spent every day of every summer as a kid.
I remember the place looking like a construction site back then, it was nothing like this.
My grandpa used to take me here and I'd steal sips of his beer when he looked the other way
It is now nothing but a big tourist trap. They sell dishes that cost the same at any fancy restaurant, except they taste nothing like any fancy restaurant, not even close.
I didn't taste their food Shah... place looked nice, tidy and clean. By looking the dashboard price list their prices was resonable .... how about Mardin restaurant ? any idea about them ?
Even worse. They are actually from Mardin and have no taste in food.
All these people have beefed up their looks and prices in the last few years.
Unfortunately they have not taken the same care to improve the quality of the food they serve.
If I was to eat anywhere in that area I would go to one place in Gemikonağı (Xero?) exactly on the right side of the road where you are supposed to make a left for Lefke. Or if you don't mind going up to Lefke, there is Avcılar Kulübü, in Karadağ, near the mines, old friend of mine runs the place, decent food and decent prices.
