What is the problem? You have the "TRNC". Aren't you happy with your rights under Turkish rule? What other rights are you after?

You mean the entire planet fails to recognise the "TRNC". Have you ever stopped to wonder why?

TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu will be flying to the German capital Berlin tomorrow for a series of contacts. A statement issued from the Presidency said President Eroğlu is going to hold a meeting with the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle on Tuesday the 26th.

TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu who is continuing his contacts in the German capital Berlin has met with the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. Speaking after the one hour long meeting Mr. Eroğlu said he held a warm and a sincere meeting with the German Foreign Minister.

TRNC President Eroğlu said he had a chance to express the Turkish side’s expectations from the European Union as well as its views over the negotiations process.

Describing Germany as a strong power which would help lifting the international isolations on the TRNC, he expressed the hope that Germany would provide its support for the lifting of the isolations.

He noted that the opening of TRNC Representation Office in Germany was also discussed during the meeting.

On German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s upcoming visit to South Cyprus, Eroğlu said he told the German Minister that he wish Mrs. Merkel would cross into the TRNC to see the realities on the island.

As part of his contacts in Berlin, the President met with the Co-chair of the German Greens Party Claudia Roth yesterday.

After the meeting, Eroğlu told Bayrak Television that he had a very warm meeting with Mrs Roth during which they discussed the negotiations process and Turkish Side’s proposals on the issue of property.

Also speaking to the Bayrak Television, Claudia Roth said she found Eroğlu’s views on the issue of property as realistic.

Mrs Roth said she assured the TRNC President that she will do her best in order to demolish the latest wall in Europe and added that it is natural to negotiate issues especially property and security in order to remove walls like the Berlin Wall.

Yesterday, Eroğlu also attended a gathering organized by the German Turkish Community under the title of Turkish-German Perspectives.

The President informed participants in detail on the course of the negotiations process.

EROĞLU COMPLETED CONTACTS IN BERLIN

The TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu returns to the Republic tonight upon the completion of his contacts in the German capital Berlin. Evaluating his contacts at a press conference as useful, the President said the Cyprus Turkish Side’s views and its peaceful efforts regarding the Cyprus negotiations process were taken up during his meetings with the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle and the Co-President of the German Greens Party Claudia Roth.

Reminding that the German Minister Westerwelle paid a visit to South Cyprus in the past but had not crossed into the North, President Eroğlu said he received a positive response from Mr. Westerwelle upon an invitation for a visit to the TRNC.

Having also expressed his disappointment over the continuation of the isolation on TC's, while referring to the TC expectations from the European Union, Eroğlu stressed that the promise on lifting the isolation must be kept.

He reminded that he was conducting peace talks with the Greek Cypirot Side in good will and stressed the need for working towards a sustainable new partnership state on the negotiation table.

“It is not possible to ignore the 36-year-old background of the TRNC. The Turkish proposals took this reality and the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights as the basis. I’ve told the Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias that we can’t ignore the events of pre-1974 period” he went on saying.

We legally have 100% of the island's sovereignty and 100% of the recognition. You have 0% of the island's sovereignty and 0% recognition. Now how do you propose we go from here?
