cypriot passport

Postby shalay » Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:57 am

hi,
i was wondering if anyone could help me..
I am an Australian of Turkish-Cypriot heritage, i've never actually been back to the country but my mum was born there and lived there for 15 years and my dad still lives there.
i was wondering, am i eligible for a cypriot passport and if so how could i go about getting one? i've emailed the embassy in Australia but they didn't reply.
thanks very much

As long as your father is Cypriot citizen then you can get the Cypriot citizenship. Don't bother with emailing, they never reply. Just call them or go personally to the embassy to ask for information. You will probably have to come to Cyprus to get the citizenship and I believe that when you go to apply it would be better to have your father with you.

Don't worry, Cyprus has the best citizenship laws and very easy to obtain as well.

All you have to do is fly over.

If you are over 18 and your father is Cypriot, you will probably get arrested at the airport and sent to the military and your citizenship will be automatically sorted.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

But if its just your mother who is Cypriot, then don't bother flying over as you will probably never get the citizenship.

Shalay, for once only take notice of GR's post. If you or more specifically your father meets the criteria required by the Goverment of Cyprus you will have no problems. As far as I see/saw, the High Cmmission in the UK deals with thousands of TC applicants and those entitled to a passport succeed. Pay a visit to the High Commission or equivalent in Oz. Good luck.

Note: GR must be in a good mood as his response is usually quite different.

Look Deniz, if you don’t appreciate the work of art I’ve created after molding your brain for the last four years, then I can just de-programme you back into that ignorant Turkish smurf you once were!
