Floundering and cracked in the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Cast, like so many other famous bells around the world, in Whitechapel, London...... and pinched by the Revolting Yanky Revolutionaries in 1776.

Return The Bell to London, where it belongs. ....... :P

Actually had the Whitechapel head bell mending/maintenance man (Martin) stay with us twice about 10 years ago. First time he was servicing and inspecting the bells at Canterbury Cathedral, he told me that it was done about every two years but most places only called on him when their bells were clapped out. The second time was to hang a new bell in a local village for the millenium so they could play decent tunes. Some old churches can't ring their bells because the wooden frames are too weak, the modern practice is to replace them with steel frames but the cost is very high.
