Europarliament Legal Committee 18/5/1 against Direct Trade

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hey, dippy, it doesn't just "claim" to represent the whole island!

"The EU has always considered Cyprus to have joined the EU as a whole, but upon accession by Cyprus in 2004, EU legislation was “temporarily suspended” in the areas not under the effective control of the government of the Republic of Cyprus.

Cyprus’s north-south divide is not an EU external border"

Erdogan really is a very convincing liar then. He was in Finland today telling everyone how "the word 'disappointed' was too mild a word to describe his feelings about the EU process".

Of course what he really thinks is "those EU fools have walked right into our trap. All this time we've been pretending we wanted to join the EU. Instead we've been hiding behind the Cyprus issue to conceal our real aim which is not to join the EU."

How clever and sophisticated Turkish diplomacy is!

He is very predictable VP…

Erdogan goes by the old-world values like “honor”, “brotherhood”, “manliness”, and all that, so he is easily offended and hot tempered!

Any rejection is seen as an insult which makes him quickly react in a way he thinks is punishing those who rejected him; emotion is the greater part of his decision making.

I’m pretty sure that unless he is somehow denied another 4-5 years in office he’ll totally ruin Turkey!

But don't get me wrong... I LOVE HIM! We've been waiting for our liberator for a loooong time!

I agree. We all thought Turkey really wanted to join the EU. But that sly fox Erdogan was only pretending. It was all a big trick.

Even now he's pretending to be angry and disappointed that Turkey's EU process has gone nowhere.

Don't you think it's time he came clean and announced that it was all one big joke? I mean it would put a lot of minds to rest. And Erdogan could take credit for the way he's outwitted those infidel fools!

Have you really listened and taken in what he says, hes the only Turkish leader that you people have any chance of agreeing some sort of compromise, if you cant with this guy forget it its all over as any potential future leaders will not even entertain any form of negotiaitons or compromise. Emotion makes him human and as the only leader with the balls to stand up to the Isrealis he is a great leader in my book.

Noway, all he needs is the idea that he is on the path leading to the EU as this fuels foreign investment without jumping thorugh the EU hoops, he is a very sly fox as he knows full well that Turkey is not a European country and aspires to Eu standards without all the hassle of being dictated to by the EU, at best Turkey will get some sort of special partnership deal. That in a nutshell near enough destroys any real leverage you guys thought you would get by selling your arses to the EU.

I call him “our liberator” not because I find him generous or reasonable, but because he is an emotional-reactionary politician who will eventually lose the occupied section of Cyprus given enough time in office.

My only concern is if his next 4 odd years will be enough time to bring about our desired results…

And yes, I think he is too good a man to be a successful international politician.

That's what you have already! You do know that "priveleged membership" means you get exactly what you have right now. It's not a bonus. It's bugger all.
