Customer Service in Cyprus

Postby angel75 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:45 am

I think one of our downfalls in Cyprus is Customer Service. I think if more focus was given on this then both businesses and the consumer would benefit.

My question to eveyone is: What do you expect from a business (whether it's retail or non) in terms of customer service? What would make you feel special when walking into a shop or office to want to shop or do business with that specific company?

you raise a good point.( i wonder how long this thread will remain civil)
" A smile costs nothing" an expression that wouldnt go amiss in shops and supermarkets in general, although the smaller shops i use are very friendly and provide good service.
But sadly the general impression elswhere in the larger food establishments is that of a bulldog sucking p**s off a stinging nettle.

I've had great service this morning... :P

Went to the garage to fill up, greeted with a very cheering welcome by the lady that then proceeded to fill my car for me...

Then to the post office in Limassol to collect a parcel... all quick, easy and friendly...

Then stopped at a DIY shop to get a complex bit for my car... again cheery welcome from the smiling owner... little language problem due to my complete inability to speak Greek but soon sorted and I was on my way with my new (cheaper than I could buy off Amazon) tool...

All in all, very impressed today thanks...

The staff speaking a language that you can understand especially restaurants.

Customer care. At least showing that you are the reason they have a job. After sales service is what would make me go back to that place (electrical stuff)

Today I witnessed at a shoe shop, a lady bought back a pair of shoes which were a present (I overheard all this) She picked another pair to her like which about 2-3 Euro more expensive.

The girl at the register explains this to her boss and he replied in a very polite way "lets keep her happy, no extra charge"

If only more would follow, its not the two Euro it the gesture. I am sure she will go there again to shop.

There are some good and plenty that need education in customer service.

On the other hand, too many smiles and superficial sweet talk doesn’t cut it with some of us!

I don’t go to shops to buy useless PR stunts, but SOLUTIONS to my problems so if the person serving hasn’t got the technical knowhow, then looking like Ronald McDonald isn’t going to save them!

And neither am I interested in being treated like (phony) “royalty” because I don’t come from a royal family and only expect to be treated fair & square!

Good point...

But is there anything else we can come to expect that basically says "wow, what great customer service, I'd definitely come back"!

What's with all these needy people that need soothing encouragement to go shopping? You either need to buy something or you don't.
