People please VP. Pickies of the outside of the hotel are widely available, but haven't seen any of the inside packed with gamblers.

and yes i did go in nicosia once my friend she goes into the north for everything i wanted to go see how it is and i had no idea her plan was to go to a casino.. but any way the point is the tcs still gamble

Wow Palio you have come a long way man!

The Palio I remember would never go to the North!

Right across the border and into a Casino as well, must be that female "friend" of yours, women tend to have that funny effect on men

well to be honest i really wanted to see what it was like in the north just to look around, and i went for the first time some years ago with a friend who would go shopping and spend every last cent in the north, and she said lets go and she never said the casino would be part of the trip, so i went in spent 5 cyprus pounds, this was even before we had the euro. and it was nice to see the north and the part where ledras is and she bought some cloths..

and on mirc i met a tc guy who lives right next to the ledra palace crossing and we became friends, i crossed a lot of times into the north went to keryneia and met his friends went to cafes. i travel regularly to the north now :) well not as much as before but still i do...

I am guessing you mean "who is to bet they are not packed" as in you are claiming that they do not make money.

Yet they keep opening new ones.

Crotus cost 220 million dollars, and there are many more to come.

Surely someone must know something you don't.

Well the prostitutes are actually imported from Ukrania, Moldovia etc. and the drugs are imported from the South.

So yeah, we don't have much to export.

But I can sell you oragnes and lemons if you like?

no the drugs come from the north they are cheaper there..

nice throw a few oranges this way

The entire drug culture exploded here once the gates opened, there was none of that before.

You get import from all over the world including Morocco, yeeee 8)

Think about it, we have no direct access, you do.

One would be crazy to try and smuggle stuff first to Turkey and then to the TRNC.

.... ah yes the gcs introduced drugs to the tcs, before that the tcs did not even know drugs existed ;p and not one tc or turk took them, even though over 80% of heroin travels from turkey form iranian borders and afghanistan where the men travel to transport it and risk their lives

Good to hear you are dropping the prejudism.

I was in Nikosia ara and also Makarios street the other day, after a long time.

Whats with all the empty shop spaces? Looks like you guys are in an economic crisis. Or is that just that area?

That stuff is easily smuggled into Turkey by land because the borderline is too big to monitor. That is also how the PKK terrorists find their way in. It's thousands and thousands of miles of mountain and emptiness. Any fool can pack a donkey with ganja and walk across. Also it is the route of many trucks that come from the other Middle Eastern countries to make their way into Europe.

To come to the TRNC, however, its only by sea and by air, both highly regulated and there is only entrance through Turkey.

We did not even have any real club culture, when you have Aija Napa which people come in from all over the world.

Trust me dude, drug smuggling was minimal before, now its always on the news. The only thing that changed was the border openings.

Oracle,
Where is god's earth did you get the idea that the Turkish Cypriot State will never be able to Trade Directly? Britain is waiting for the EU Parliament's decision first before opening its gate to it British Turkish Cypriots - Some 200'000 of them. Feb 2011 is the date for the opening of Direct Trade of Northern Cyprus or the EU will have to bare a Huge burden of blame when Turkey blames it for Officially partitioning the island with Northern Cyprus as being a Province - state of Turkey, a bit like Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or even Vatican City! There are to many Example girl!
