maybe he was inspecting it because they will hand it to the EU and then to the legal residents because thats the only way the t/c will be able to trade now that the direct trade law isnt going anywere.

Every Turk knows who Commander Cevik Bir is. He used to be the second head of the Turkish Land Forces from General Ismail Haki Karadayi, and I'm sure you know who he was. The word on the Turkish Cypriot side is that Cevik Bir has given the authorisation to convert the Maras/Varosha area into a Perm Turkish Naval base after declaring the area with the VAKIFLAR GROUP, after many years of decay and waste, as the ideal "Turkish Southern Star", another term in the Turkish military for a Runway!

The VAKIF Group who originally owned the land way bank from the Ottoman period have signed a huge financial package for the project.

Why am I telling you this? Because the second newspaper I write for had warned me not to mention it yet, and no one threatens me!

HERE'S THE EVIDENCE IN A NUTSHELL:

Turkey could have, but has never opted to refurbish, settle or build in Varosha.

The Military has been in Total control of it since 1974.

Even Turkish Cypriot civilians are Not allowed to go there.

The Cyprus Talks are going nowhere and never will.

Including all the Chants of "Occupied" by the GC, the building of a Military base in the Varoshaa will not add much to this name calling.

There are more Turkish citizens in Cyprus than Turkish Cypriots!

The area is regarded as a Ghost Town anyway - that's interesting!

The TRNC has only pressed for the refurbishment of North of Famagusta with its now many hotels and holiday villages, but never the Varosha area.

The proposed Naval base in the Varosha area will be an exclusive Soverign area for the TK military only, completely self managed.

When the Turkish Frigates and Naval boats arrive in Cyprus, it always docks and the Southern tip of the Famagusta Ports, I wonder why?

All Turkish and especially Naval officers visiting the island are, and have always been, given a guided Tour of the Maras/Varosha.

It has since 1974 been allowed to decay to such an extent that even your GC journalists have said that it must be demolished first before any such ambitious resettling when it was THOUGHT to be on the Cards.

Am I happy about it, of course not, but it's a reality that people like Get Real, the self claimed "ELITE" always miss out in their short sightest vision.

With whom is Christofias exactly talking to these days, and How quickly did Mr Mehmet "Pasha" Ali Bey TALAT switch from being a communist to a Pro-Turkish supporter?

Getting back to the Ghost Town redevelopment of the Varosha, I would like to finally say that the ground work is so deeply set both with Turkey's new Foreign policy (the latest warming of U.S toes just today with the Missile arrangement to be deployed on Turkish soil), it's new relationship with China, Russia, the Turkic States and Asia, that the flattening of the Varosha will appear as a pinch of salt in the larger political stage.

What a shame the Greek Cypriots invited this scenario and now how well Converted out Turkish Cypriots have now become "Turkish".

"Welcome to views of the Huge Turkish Naval base from Ayia Napa" your GC tourist guides will soon be saying, and selling tickets for. "If you wait you might even see a few Turkish F16s Landing in their new state of the art base. Oh how wonderful".

You fools - like what Klafcos Clerides said, "We should have accepted the Annan Plan".

Turkey doesn't Give Two Shits about the Turkish Cypriots, and you have only just added to it.
