The creation of the Republic of Cyprus was not achieved by the Turks - quite the opposite!

It was the Greek Cypriots that created the Republic of Cyprus by freeing Cyprus from British colonial rule while the Turks worked for the colonial forces to suppress the struggle for independence!

The Ottoman policy is to let the people rule themselves with their own religion in return for taxes.

Tell me where such a practice exists/existed and in which form? Because most scholars would tell you that the Ottoman Turks did/do anything but allow people to rule themselves or practice their religion, or to even use their own language etc! Yeah, they tax people alright!
