I took some valuable lessons from the anti aircraft training, was fortunate enough to experience and handle the heavy artillary.

Doing 3 months is pissing in the park. You won't do anything, not even sxoleio maxitou. So don't sweat it.

its funny you say that, because i used to know a gay guy in limassol. and another straight guy who was soon to go into the army, the gay guy had gone to the army and the straight was crying like a baby saying its full of gays the army now and that he did not want to go.... it was so funny

but what do you gain by going? who is the greek cypriot army going to defend themselves against if some one comes for war? no one!

Well, you will learn how to clean toilets and shit off the walls but 3 months will fly by so quickly. Besides, if you ever plan to live or work in Cyprus, you must do your military service first so just get it over with and in the end...you will be glad you did. If you do decide to go...keep world politics and which football teams you like to yourself. Just go with the flow brother, chances are you will also come out of this experience with a few good friends as well.

you have to go and sign up, they dont come searching for you so you could just not go, 21 you dont need adeia to leave cyprus either now. so you can avoid it and not go easily.

I totaly dissagree, i know of many people who were forced to go army, they dont go looking for you. they wait for you to leeve the country and when your at the airport the run your name through the COmputer and if they see u havent done your time in the army they dont let you leeve and ur off to the army.

One of my (half-GC) nephews did his requisite 3 months with some Australian Cypriots and they had a good bond-making time, although a little bored at times as the "best" duties were given to Greek speakers.

It's 26 now, 21 they are allowed. It USED to be 21 this was extended to 26 because of the European Union.

this must be a very recent thing because my cousin passed from the border with no problems and no exit permit and he is not 26 but over 21 just before the summer
