Good to have you on board, Cowboy! But, I hate it when people agree with me. I begin to wonder "what have I done wrong"?

I agree with you because I think you made a good observation, and in my opinion the truth is always the best medicine, and usually the truth is harsh.....

"So - a Greek born in Turkey?"

Yes, very common. About two million Greeks were born in Turkey, (before it was created and called Turkey by the way), and expelled as part of the 1922 population exchange deal.

He did not "live all over' as some kind of emigre. He was a diplomat in the Greek foreign service and served as ambassador before he became a writer.

"in present day Cyprus jobs (especially highly paid ones) are handed out purely on merit? "

To cite the appointment of Holdren as adviser to US president Obama as an example. The guy is a nutter who loves disaster scenarios, in the 70 he was a new ice age fanatic, then he predicted that millions would die of starvation by the year 2000. How did he earn his higly paid job? Political affiliation, same as eveywhere else.

Let us cut this crap that everyewhere else people are appointed to hugly paid jobs solely on merit and only in Greece and Cyprus there is nepotism, cronyism and politics. The phrase "old boy network" is not Greek. It is pure British.
