Drinking and driving is a very serious offence irrespective of forgetting to turn up for the Court.
Seriously, you should consider obtaining some help with the drinking problem.

she goes out a lot and drinks in bars, i would not call it a drinking problem.

i would call it having a good time, not needing help :)

Drinking and driving is extremely serious.

That is why a court appearance is necessary.

Whilst I am not a psychologist, I think the thread starter is aware of the grave transgression and preferred to forget her duty again.

I wouldn't worry about going to jail if I were you.

I'm sure a good looking girl like you would get on famously amongst the other inmates.

You may even get "perks" from the prison dykes.

Who remembers Prisoner Cell-Block H?

of course its serious, i am not saying its not, i just dont think she has an alcohol problem. my uncle died for 1 minute when drink driving, and to this day he still drinks drunk with out caring. i myself nearly went on head on with another car after drink driving, and have not done it since. and its very serious problem so many deaths are caused that way, you think it will never happen to you but it does. she wont face jail time but fine and points on the license maybe even a driving ban. i was banned 6 months just for speeding.

I did not attend a Court Hearing once (the Case wandered on for 3 years!), due to Lawyer's administrative mistake; Judge was pretty upset!

Was talking to a (male) friend, who has just spent a few weeks in Lefkosia Jail, he had a horrendous time - 'being locked up with murderers and rapists', as he told me - and only 10 minutes phone calls a month. the worst things were the constant noise and the smell - yuk!

Still figy, u will be fine; some good advice given here; in my experience Judges are very fair here.

As an aside and talking of translations; I watched a case once where 4 or 5 Bangladeshis were on trial for Immigration offences. As the case when on, the there was firstly a translation from Greek to English and then a further one from English to Bangla; of course the proceedings do not pause for these translations - and the poor guys must have been totally confused as the case went on!

Everyone has an alcohol problem if they know they must not drink and drive and still they do.

i think its more about not wanting to leave the car and take a taxi then it being an alcohol problem thinking they will be ok or feel ok to drive, but i am sure you know more about this stuff then me :)

i saw this tv show about police arrests and they arrested some one more over the limit then they had ever seen and he talked like he was not drinking at all. so even if they are so much over the limit they feel ok to drive and that they wont crash, i dont see how thats having an alcohol problem

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. PERIOD.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM TO CAUSE DEATH ON THE ROADS.

IF YOU HAVE AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM, YOU ONLY HURT YOURSELF AND FAMILY.

DRINK DRIVING CAN HURT INNOCENTS AS WELL.
