I heard today that they got a new injunction which will delay them again.
Cant believe that local supermarkets are so scared and try so hard to stop them from opening.
What ever happened I am huge fan of LIDL and keep my finger cross that they open soon. LIDL go we wait for you.

When visiting Cyprus I always bring for my daughters babies , well a year old and a 2 and half year old , nappies from Lidl , 4 packets of 50 cost 5.49 each , in Cyprus the cheapest about 18 euros , massive difference , why ? Because the Cypriot supermarkets have had too good for many years now , prices in all of them are exorbitant or a daylight bloody robbery. Just look at the prices for English cheddar cheese at least 3 or more times the cost here in the UK.
It is time that competition took place and price setting by the Cypriot supermarkets took a bashing.
I hope and Im certain that Lidl will not be intimidated by the Cypriot big boys , a sound price structure is good for the citizens and visitors of Cyprus.
A 200 gr of Nescafe currently selling in Lidl London for £3.99 that is about 4.60 euros why should Supermarkets in Cyprus demand 7.60 Euros ?
Go get them Lidl !!!
Lidl first open in Germany in the 1930's as a small shop,it rapidly expanded a couple decades ago.You can check out the Lidl web site,by typing Lidl Cyprus. They are currently looking for land to rent or buy, with a population of at least 5000 residence, there are jobs on offer. There are adds during RIK 1 news, showing that they are here and ready to open shortly.
If you looked at the car parks of the sites, you would have noticed many cars. These are the employees preparing to open. There also has to be a Logo placed over the entrance, which has to be delivered. My contact said it would be open before the month is finished. They are sworn to secrecy and want a hugh impact when opening.Obviously it seems to work ?
Remember that the parent company is German and the are stickers to perfection.Just for interest sake,Aldi will also open in the future, this is the rival Brother of the Lidl Family.
ALDI will not open in Cyprus as They were not successful in Greece

Is lidl cheaper on everything or on their own brand items? For example carefour has carefour brand cereals which are cheaper than say Kellogg. Will the same Kellogg cereals be much cheaper in lidl than they are in carefour? And are the prices of lidl the same in all countries? Maybe lidl stores in Germany and other big countries will have products much cheaper than lidl stores in Cyprus because the market is much bigger there.
