GOOGLE Transparency Report

Postby Gasman » Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:40 am

Including a list of and a map showing countries whose governments have requested removal of content from Google.

http://www.google.com/transparencyreport/governmentrequests/?p=2010-06

Like other technology and communications companies, we regularly receive requests from government agencies around the world to remove content from our services, or provide information about users of our services and products. This map shows the number of requests that we received in six-month blocks with certain limitations.

We’re still learning the best way to collect and present this information. We’ll continue to improve this tool and fine-tune the types of data we display.

Shock! Horror! It's not just Turkey that wants censorship on the 'net.

No surprise to see the good ole US and UK topping the list. Cyprus is in there though.

Like your posts are sometimes, Gasmans news reports are very important to some of us.

If we all were capable of self-criticism, perhaps the travails of Cyprus would lessen.

One thing is to censor certain content and another to ban the whole facebook or youtube. There are many nasty things on the web that need to be censored.
