Facebook might be banned in Turkey!

Postby kurupetos » Fri Oct 08, 2010 11:59 pm

The 22.5 million Turkish members of Facebook may lose access to the popular social-networking site as a result of a court case filed by an opposition leader. Though Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his party say they only want offensive content removed, a government minister has hinted Facebook may follow YouTube onto the banned-sites list

its banned in Pakistan and Bangladesh...

its just some countries haven't embraced the 21st century mentality yet...

prohibition never worked and turkey trying to control the media will have deeper repercussions in the future...

“Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu’s lawyer included the demand to shut down the site in the application by mistake,” CHP Adana deputy Tacidar Seylan, who is also a programmer and informatics expert, told the Daily News on Thursday. He said neither he, nor Kılıçdaroğlu want to see Facebook banned and that the case was filed to remove the offensive content, which was created when the now-party leader was running for the Istanbul mayor’s office in the 2009 local elections, with a ban only requested if such action was not possible.

Yet another material some "bash patriots" need for Turk bashing! I know nothing amuses you as much as virtually bashing the Turks with anything you find about them to abuse...

Well, according to the Jewish Internet Defence Force, Israel’s Government and the IDF are constantly attempting to censor and control the internet, face book, you tube and many other social networks, blogs, message boards and news organisations.

But as Israel is admired and revered on here - I suppose it's OK if they do it!

Can people stop using material from the internet to bash the Turkish because they can't help it if they are too stupid and are desperately struggling to present themselves as forward thinking Europeans and not as backward as their actions would evidently suggest they are! :D
