E.LA.M. The National People's Front

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Tue Jan 04, 2011 12:16 pm

Of course enosis was supported by the junta led by Ioannides. The so called small junta that replaced the junta of Papadopoulos who eventually agreed with Turkey for a solution based on independence. The junta, with the local lackeys of EOKA B' and its supporters, staged the coup to oust Makarios in the name of enosis. All these are well documented in a number of books and perhaps Klik needs to do some unbiased reading.

I find it very peculiar that Klik would site internationalist Hikmet Nazim, to prove the xenophobic point he is making. But also, reading between the lines, one can see that he is not so sure the Greeks of Cyprus may not find enosis palatable in the future:

Enosis can no longer be achieved and I don't think anyone would actually want it at this point

His also makes a point that enosis cannot be achieved at the moment, so what would his view be if the balances change and enosis becomes feasible in the not so distant future?

Greece was in a dire situation after 1922, with the economy a thousand times worse than it is today and the huge influx of diaspora Greeks who had nowhere to turn to, keeping an open front with Turkey would have been tantamount to suicide. What do you think on this? Do you agree with oracle that he made a mistake?

Signing away land to Turks and agreeing to ethnic cleansing seems to appeal to you.

Then why didn't he declare himself President of Cyprus, or assume some leadership role over the RoC instead of replacing Makarios with a puppet to continue to preside over an Independent Republic?

If it became feasible and the majority wanted it, what would be so wrong?

These books wouldn't by any chance suit your pro-Turkish agenda?

hahaha

Enosis was aspired by all political parties in Cyprus and by over 96% of the Cypriots*

If you have doubts about this, maybe you need to read some unbiased books. Because as far as I know, in Cyprus and Greece history books betray their past, while in Turkey (and other countries, mainly FYROM-Skopje) indoctrinates anti-Hellenic propaganda...

1949: AKEL wants referrendum in Cyprus and urges the Prime Minister of Greece to pressurize the United Kingdom leadership so that ENOSIS can be achieved

1958... AKEL announces they want ENOSIS

1964.. AKEL still wants ENOSIS

1966.. AKEL disses Moscow and states that there will be ENOSIS, with no land or command given away.

I used AKEL since they seem to have an anti-Greek propaganda as of late.

As for the fact that the status quo can favor unification, I would be 100% FOR it. Why? Well call me "irridentist", but I know that the historic borders of my people is not restricted and definitely not 37% occupied.

As for the Megali Idea, it might be irridentist for you, but do you call the Italians irridentist when they wanted to re-capture Venice and Trieste?
Do you call the Germans irridentists for wanting to create a German nation? Were Prussians irridentists when they wanted to unite Germany?

Check the map of Europe in 1900. How many nations were there? Established ones!
To save you the trouble, it's 20. 20 nations. Now there are over 50. Were all of them irridentist? Just because they wanted to unite their people and expand their borders to their rightful location?

Of course I won't say that it's sensible to ask for the Spanish eastern coast, French southern coast, Sicily, 1/3 of Italy mainland, parts of Libya and Egypt, parts of Lebanon and Syria, the coast of Turkey in Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea, parts of Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania on the Black Sea... (as you can see, there were many Hellenized places around Europe). Nobody asks for that...
But Cyprus is the last place outside Greece (country) where the population remained Greek(put aside the illegal immigrants of the past 40 years). And each nation should only have 1 country. If you think that's fascism, then I think you're crazy...

* Where Cypriots = Greek population of Cyprus.

And don't gimme the crap that the Turks are Cypriots just because they were born here. If I was born in Pakistan I would still be a Cypriot, not a Pakistani. Just like you see people in southern Italy and even eastern Spain saying that they are Hellenes even if they are so far away (look it up) Only difference between them and Turks in Cyprus is that those people respect and have pride for their history and for the land they are born in. Unlike Turks who diss everything about Cypriot history and now want to be called "brothers".

Great post Klik: I'll leave Bananiot in your capable hands since his New Year Resolution didn't include, "Must try and answer difficult questions without resorting to personal abuse!"

I'll conclude, Bananiot won't rest till every European Country with a Turkish minority has signed away a "statelet" for exclusive use by his friends.

Ha ha ha ... ha!

Three fascists patting each other on the back ... well done Klik, great oracle, heil B25.

Show me some evidence, Klik, which shows that enosis was not supported by the Greek junta. I can wait for as long as you like.

All, wars have been fought for national (or religious) reasons. The creation of ethnic states has meant the loss of millions of human beings and given this cost, I'd rather be an anarchist. Don't talk to me about national inspirations, whether Greek or Turkish or anything else, I do not give a penny's thought. But, if you like to know, TC's are Cypriots and only fascists of the worse type can deny this. They are native to this land, just like Maronites and Latins.

Ha ha ha ... "as of late, AKEL seems to have an anti Greek propaganda" you reckon. But, when AKEL was a fervent supporter of enosis all was fine with this party, as far as you are concerned. Again, this shows clearly your mindset, you are just another krypto fascist and poor old oracle has bent over backwards to hear your sweet words. B25, just like Klik, thinks that anybody who does not relate to his stereotype is a Turk. For him all Turks are the same, all dogs are the same, they used to say in the past. It looks nothing has changed in the sorry mind of fascists. All they see is a Turk! Rubbish, there are bad Turks and good Turks, just like there are bad Greeks and good Greeks. For the likes of Klik, oracle and B25, a good Turk is a dead Turk.

You see Klik, you can fool some people but others can easily read between the lines of your not so careful writings and expose you for what you are. A plain, simple fascist or at best an extreme right winger and the subtle difference between the two does not concern me, for there is so much overlap. Just remembered a joke, the joke of the century ... "I am not right wing, she said...".

Ha ha ha ...
