Eroglu ‘ready for tripartite meeting’

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Eroglu maintained there were two reasons why the Cyprus problem wasn’t being resolved. “The first regards the UN Security Council resolution on March 4, 1964, with which the peacemaking force arrived in Cyprus and the Turkish side was expelled from the Republic,” he said. “The second is the acceptance of the Greek Cypriots’ application in 1990 for accession to the EU.”

Eroglu claimed that reactions back then from the Turkish Cypriot community and Turkish Foreign Minister had been met with promises that the accession would not be going ahead.

“But as you have seen, they became full members and today they are obstacles for Turkey,” he added. “When I explain these two reasons, they don’t tell me anything. But I am certain that they are fully aware of the reality.”

It's bloody hilarious that Eroglu is going around telling foreign diplomats that the Cyprus problem has failed to be resolved because of the UN and the EU.

It's a novel approach to winning sympathy but judging from the speechless reaction of the diplomats I doubt he's making much of an impression.

Hes stating the grave errors made by the UN and EU which have allowed the GCs to think they do not to compromise or show any exibility towards finding a solution therefore thinking wrongly they can hold out for maximum demands.

I am drawing the the conclusion that it is the TC;s who may not want a solution in Cyprus and Turkey is caught in a bind about suporting these people she'd used in the past to control the mediteranian. However, now the TC leadership and people are the ones delaying the process. And not all TC's at that either but as per usual the rich who are directly benefiting out of the situation and the status quo.

36 years of non recognition and the GC exploitation of sole representation and reeping benefits due to TCs. Losing 63% of our island.

You are partially correct we TCs do not want just any solution, we would rather stay as we are and take the consequencies rather than be a minority amongst GCs, either we are partners under a BBF with political equality or you can forget the north forever.

Get our country back in what shape and form? it is currently a GC state with no place for TCs, dont forget it was you GCs who opposed your corrent constitution. Get the rules and structure in place using a BBF with political equality and only then will we unite.

Thats whats beeing discussed for the last 2 years but GCs appear to only pay lip service to a BBF solution and have no real desire to share equally.
