Things that are great about Cyprus

In no particular order -

Climate.
Food.
Dustbinmen.
Butchers.
Cyta's level of service- Honestly !!!!
High streets not ruined by hyper mega stores and global brands.
Bakeries.
A healthy,"common sense" and pragmatic approach combined with an irreverant attitude to stupid laws,unecessary regulations and undue taxation.
90% of the population are welcoming,warm,honest,polite and tolerant - if only that were true here
Family values.
Low crime rate.
Picturesque scenery
History
Some great architecture ( not much of it built in the last 50 years though)
Zivania

See And while you can find many other places that can combine most of the things above, in how many of those places English is as common as in Cyprus, driving on the same side as the UK, with similar legal system etc? I am sure these things counts for most British people. Cyprus is not perfect. No place is perfect. But if you are careful on a couple of issues, like property developers, then Cyprus can be a good place to live and it doesn't deserve the constant bitching of some people.

Personally, I love seeing lizards running up the inside walls of my house ... I don't want pictures, or ornaments -- just moving, colourful and uniquely patterned lizards.
