Burning of Greek flag

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Burning of Greek flag

Postby halil » Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:36 am

Burning of Greek flag enrages APOEL fans ............

Police arrested the 31-year-old fan for insulting a national symbol.

At the post-match press conference Chiotis said: "We are all Greeks. I am Greek and you are Greek Cypriots. I will not tolerate anyone burning the Greek flag. It is unacceptable for them to swear at your country while they are on Greek ground. I hope that the incident has also bothered the Greeks of Omonia.”

In Cyprus the Greek flag is considered a national symbol and deliberately damaging a Cypriot national symbol is considered illegal.

The burning of any flag is meaningless and ridiculous. Taking national flags to domestic league matches is also ridiculous. The man arrested is a well known retard (literary) from Nicosia. Watch the police exhaust the letter of the law on this hapless person!

P.S. In 1921, Kemal Ataturk punished severly some Turkish soldiers who he found trampling on Greek flags left behind by the retreating Greek army. He said that the flag was the symbol of a proud nation and he would not condone such behaviour.

Were those Turkish Soldiers shot just like Solomou was shot for climbing a Flag Pole? :?

Can we have a link pleaser, out of interests alone?

from the CM story:

In Cyprus the Greek flag is considered a national symbol and deliberately damaging a Cypriot national symbol is considered illegal.

Can anyone explain to me why this is the case?

Does this mean that not ALL Cypriots consider themselves to be Greek then?
Surely not!

It’s the uneducated Ottomans who started this “Greeks” rubbish… Muslims were viewed as "Turks", those who followed the Eastern Orthodox church as “Greeks” and Catholics as "Latins"!

And that pretty much covered the entire world of the fools…

Ask the family of Solomos Solomou and Tassos Isaak about flags from foreign countries.

Don't worry! I didn't really expect you to present a credible source to your unsubstantiated claim!

The irony is, that the Solomou incident supports your claim in a way! The question is, did Ataturd execute those Turkish Soldiers whilst allowing others to rape thousands of Greek Women? :?
