Yeah, darn right none of you forum Brits are able to recognise "Cypriots" any more -- stuck with some vision of a "dumb peasant" kowtowing to your every whim and feeding your Colonially-inflated egos.

Well, there is only one Cypriot, and no other! The kind, generous loving, family person who sees his whole country as his home, and not just four wind-shielding walls. Who loves every other Cypriot as a brother, and is comfortable to fight with him vociferously about every minor disagreement, but at the end of the day, because blood is thicker than water, they are sensationally, surprisingly, loving brothers all wanting the same things for family and country.

Yes, the everyday Cypriot is polite and hospitable; why not? -- He treats people as he would like to be treated himself. Moral and virtuous, respectful and dignified. You think any of us here lack those qualities because we hurt and counter your vain accusations?

Try telling any "real-life" Cypriot some of the things you hell-spawn, forum Brits say about Cyprus on here; and you will soon taste the Cypriot savage we reserve for protecting our own.

Go on make my day .... 8)

I love lots of things about Cyprus. That's why I choose to live here. I love it so much it upsets me to see the way some of the inhabitants treat it. And seem to have and take no pride in the island.

When I first started posting here - I posted lots of photographs of my travels all round the island.

I was shot down in flames for DARING to post some photos of Cyprus north of the green line!

You see, on this forum, you are only allowed to like 'some' of Cyprus - not all of it.

You are allowed to criticise things like litter and fly tipping and corrupt estate agents and developers as long as you are only talking about the North!

I had and have no sympathy or love for so called 'carpetbaggers' and was very critical of a lot of stuff happening north of the green line both here and on N. forums.

I've been booted off the Northern Forums for criticising the same and for championing the RoC (despite what Lady O likes to make people believe).
Eric Seans can attest to what I say lol!

It's just that on here, they are so OVER THE TOP in their hatred of all things TC or Turkish. So one sided. And defend the indefensible and maintain that NOTHING ever and NO ONE ever does anything wrong in Cyprus (unless they are a Turk, a TC or a Brit! As for the pigheaded insistence that Cyprus is Greek. Well - it isn't!

So now, when I want to post photographs of 'beautiful Cyprus' and discuss the history and my travels around the island and the stuff I am involved in here - I do it elsewhere.

I'm civic minded and a responsible citizen wherever I choose to live. I do my bit.

I've been told that I mix with the 'wrong sort' of Cypriots!

Well I mix with

Business men and women
Cafe owners
Taverna owners
Soldiers
Policemen
Nursery nurses
Vets
Medical care workers
Shop owners
Solicitors
Retirees
Mechanics
Hairdressers (of course)
Magazine publishers and editors
Don't mix socially with any politicians (yet!)

In my view, and in the view of a lot of average Cyps, it is the more nationalistic an hateful 'Greek Cypriot' posters on this forum - that do not represent a good cross section of Cypriots in general. They are people who laugh and jeer at incomers getting ripped off and conned by Cypriots. Who deny what any Cypriot resident can see with their own eyes daily. Who DEFEND the most awful stuff and find justification for just about anything. Who threaten to murder and maim fellow posters who disagree with them lol!

But then most of those don't live in Cyprus so we don't have them inflicted on us in our day to day life. Just out in cyberspace.

Now I am off out to meet a Cypriot friend for lunch. We are meeting with an Iranian married to a Brit they are holidaying here. The Cypriot in question has just returned from a holiday in Istanbul. So I guess that means he is not a 'real' Cypriot? Even if he lived here all his life, didn't leave Cyprus when the shit hit the fan, has a Cypriot wife, children and grandchildren here. And made a success of his life IN Cyprus - not somewhere else where he could bleat over the internet about how Cypriot he is and how no one else living here should have the right to say anything about Cyprus (or even be here!)

A Cypriot who LIKES most Brits! Whose father and brother worked for them on the SBAs.

A real character and, to my mind, a REAL Cypriot - family orientated, fun loving, humourous, successful in business, appreciates what he has achieved. He thinks the municipality should give me a medal on account of the tons of rubbish I've picked up from around the beautiful Larnaca Salt Lake over the years!

I pick up your shit - I feel entitled to complain about it. I think people like Oracle who thinks there is nothing wrong with leaving dogshit all over the place and chucking your litter anywhere you happen to be - are the people who should KEEP QUIET.

Oracle - when I describe people like you to my Cypriot friends - they roll their eyes and say people like YOU are what's wrong with Cyprus - you are holding it back - you are stuck in the past. You don't want better things for Cyprus because you don't have to live here. You want it to remain as somewhere stuck 100 yrs past for you to come and have a little 'traditional' Cypriot holiday in before running back to the UK.

And ... let's get it right.

You are NOT a 'real life Cypriot'. Not in any way, shape or form.

The best bit about Cypriots is what they tell other Cypriots, which they never tell the ξένοι.

Eleusinian Mysteries? Yup, we have practiced the art of keeping secrets for thousands upon thousands of years ....

The most vain Brits will think they are privy to something, just because we offer them our hospitality. It's food! Not our souls!

How we laugh. It's a closed shop.

Well next time why don't you do all the arguing for them and we'll see how long you last! If you're knowledgeable and have all the credible evidence what’s stopping you?

Do you put down Cyprus when meeting up with these lot, or only under online-anonymous?

Come to Nicosia and you'll meet 300,000 of them!

You think living in shitty little Paphos gives you an accurate reflection of what Cypriots are like?

Of course there are things"Brits" (arnt you one oracle/haw haw?) do that benifit the people of Cyprus as a whole, but youll never see that here...from another website..

quote "
Afternoon all,

Today we were delighted to present 2 oxygen concentrators to Andri and Petra from The Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends.

A lot of time was spent by a lady called Lynn on the internet and we were able to purchase two virtually for the price of one!

Since the 29th July through various fund raising collections and donations we have raised €1528-40

Each concentrator cost £1206-00 and having got a very favourable rate of exchange the cost for the two was €1423-00 plus airport charges of €75-00 making a total of €1498-00 and a balance of 30-40

Today we received a donation of €24-10 plus another €21-00 from the sale of books at our coffee morning therefore we have a balance of €75-50 which will kick start our fund raising next year.

Once again, many thanks to all who have helped this very worthwhile cause. "

some people will now make snide remarks, but i dont suppose they would object if one of their relatives needed this equipment.
